Kinda puts into perspective the pro riders when they're drilling it along in a big bunch. Drafting can make a big difference.

I dont know whether you use strava but one interesting part of it is the ability to follow pro riders, Laurens ten Dam is one example. He uploaded all his rides from the tour where he would be hitting average speeds of 40kph, however many of his non racing rides will only be at 26-30kph.

Yes, I know some of the pros released power data from their Tour rides, and the general feeling amongst many respectable amateurs was "is that it?".

Of course the flip side of that is that in the Maratona there were some semi-pros/pro sportive riders and they were pretty swift. We were averaging 21kph, yet the winners took 2 hours out of me, so must have been averaging just shy of 30kph. Not sure they would have had massive drafting benefits. Most shots I saw of them had them in a small'ish group of half a dozen/dozen.

Get up an hour earlier, and don't sit when you're at the gym

Google Wendlers 5,3,1 routine, that will pack some size onto you as well as strength. Very easy to follow, and progresses quite well for beginners and intermediate lifters. If you're stuck, PM me and I'll send you a book

Cheers mate, but if I get up any earlier I won't need to go to bed!
Dropped the cardio this morning......I'll have a look at Wendlers 5,3,1 and see how it is.
Much appreciated,

After watching horizon tonight I downloaded one of those heart rate apps where you place your finger on the camera and then shine a bright light behind it. How accurate are they?

Signed up to do the Dreilander Giro this week. Starts in Austria before going through Switzerland and Italy and back into Austria. Will see us going over this monster. Can't wait.

Ever thought about doing it on a motorbike Bruce? You'll finish it in next to no time and not be so knackered at the end, just a suggestion :)

Also Bruce, if you used the motorbike you could cut back on the steroids and your penis could in time return back to it's normal size. These all sound like positives to me.

Looks great that Bruce. Been cycling every day to work and back (10 miles in all) and love it, developed leg muscles I never knew existed. Thinking of upgrading to a road bike though, which bike do you have? Any suggestions under £600 ish are welcome for a good one too.

I just whacked some decent road tyres on my Mountain Bike, made a massive difference and also meant that if I wanted to go off road just had to change the tyres
