OK. Is this a safeguarding issue due to a MH related illness.
Do they have these permissions to make sure you're ok if the GP feels you're not in in good place?
Sorry for asking but you started it...

As above, are the given those permissions with regards your general wellbeing in relation to a MH issue?

well you know all i’m bi polar
i take oxycontin for pain have for years

I'm guessing she's in a better position to judge than most on here mate.
The 2 family members that she speaks with, why do you want to remove this permission? Do you feel they're not acting in your best interests while discussing you?

Is it just a meds related issue that you feel backed into a corner over?
Try speaking with her/them in a group situation over the phone, not face to face, if this helps with the anxiety levels. Explain your side, LISTEN to theirs. Be open to help that may not seem like it short term but will benefit you over a longer timescale. I'm sure they all want what's best for you at the end of the day mate

yup exactly this. so i rang friday morning and said to the receptionist to remove them

due to a conversation with my GP thursday night which i do need to keep private lads

Unless your GP is a quack Matty... In which case, you might be opening yourself up for a very lurcative malpractice suit? 🤔

It's never good for you to take any medication long term mate. Body becomes used to it, becomes less effective, dosage needs raising for it to have any benefit.
That's why I wrote LISTEN like that, sometimes a change can do you more good than continuing with the same. Be open to suggestion mate, don't be so stubborn, they, and us, just want the best Matty.

@matty1878 Especially when it comes to a drug like oxycontin. That stuff is dangerous!

But if push comes to shove, you are allowed to switch GP's and get a second opinion.

ok ok so if my GP has family members down to discuss my health etc ( she has two )

can i remove them ?

and if she try’s to contact them she’s breaking confidentially?
Yes.

Possibly, depends on context.

But you could head it off by telling said family members. They'd figure it out if they contacted the GP expecting access and we're told "we're sorry we can't let you access that info".

If it's that scenario you're trying to avoid, that sounds like you're trying to swerve your methadone scripts to go back on the smack without your mom and Dad finding out.

Having read further, this sounds more serious a situation so apologies for my daft second paragraph.

I'll be truth here Matt - if you are having a psychotic episode as an example (possible) I think your immediate nearest and dearest might be consulted anyway.

That was were I was angling. Do they have the permissions as a safeguarding thing and if so it may not be possible, or easy at any rate, for him to have these removed, due to it being a MH related case.

It's a complex area, but without Matty divulging his entire health history, it is possible to be granted proxy access.

Assuming this is the scenario Matty means I think he can ask for access to be withdrawn, but on not telling people bit, then asking the GP is best.

Still think the people in question would find out when they contact the practice though.
