These have been a feature in my life for many years.
The end is nigh.
Sawdust has not helped one bit.
No-one in The Lisbon seemed to understand (although several next steps were proposed. None of which seemed to be directly related to the specific problem).
What do I do?

Put a dab if epoxy resin in the gap. To make it white stir in some common household powder such as talc, baking powder or cocaine.
