Grass roots funding

It kinda stinks of hypocrisy though. I mean the article mentions the £60,000 needed to keep open a youth academy for one year. That's one weeks salary for those players asking others to dip their hands in their pockets. It's a bit like celebs that turn up on telethons asking others to donate to charity. They're in a better position than the vast majority to help out. What are they doing financially to help?

Wasn't Kitson the player who said he could give a toss about the FA cup even as Reading was in the quarterfinals? You know one competetion that provides much needed revenues for smaller clubs. The prem should trickle down money to the lower leagues but its not going to happen. The players and owners try to squeeze every bit of money out of their own supporters, you think they are going to give a damn about other clubs?
