It was never as big as the reds Spion Kop - but it was deceivingly big - that back section used to go right back under the grandstand above - the space in the upper standing crowd is steps down top is a path - the there was the bottom section behind the goal - with the Boys pen caged in the Paddock, and Glawdys street corner - The Kop held 20.000 + but imo it was not as intimidating as it went that high up the player looked like subbuteo size - whereas the Gladwys st end was closer to the pitch till they arched the goal area around the nets as missiles were often flung, It was a brilliant site, and the atmosphere was second to none - most of the staunch supporters took their songs to away grounds the best was imo the Wolves spion open ended Kop which I can not find a photo of in its hey day!
it was my favorite away end when you could stand!

Found a picture of my Wolves favourite away end it was called the south bank Kop - their fans for some reson mainly cover grouped in the smaller end opposite the blues used to take 10-20, 0000 fans to an away game there depending on if it was a big clash fa cup etc heres a picture of the expanse of that end -

For the younger fans when we had our standing end behind the goal - the chanting started 1 hour before kick off - wooden floors under the stands the noise was great - what an atmosphere in all the grounds in those days!
Everton Gladwys street's end packed for the 1988 Derby a glorious site! - That end really did suck the ball into the opponent's nets -seat -DOH!

I was in that lot some where in lower Gwladys. I bet though it was even more packed if that possible the night we played Inter Milan and got robbed by a crook of a referee.

Superb, majority of grounds now are just not the same, not proper football grounds !!

A common thing in the standing terrace days at a packed end a young bopy is passed down from being crushed to the front in a safer p[osition - many a young boy was pickpocketed during that process! or his money simple fell out on the crows below! -

Love this picture, most of the crowd not bothered by the guy climbing the wire, the police not bothered either.

Could you imagine today? Game stopped, everyone out with their mobile phones, police, stewards and emergency services all over the place.
