No '66 damn I really enjoyed the Portugal 5 North Korea 3 match at Goodison.
I haven't seen too many matches over here in the states. The 2-2 Croatia-Australia match with the comedy Aussie GK (spider-man or something was his name) and the 3 yellow cards was pretty exciting.
The day I really start to love football was watching the Senegal 2 Sweden 1 match in 2002. Senegal had an awesome goal in which 6 passes on the ground from one end to pitch to the other and Camara finished it off. The goal even had the Sweden manager smiling. Camara then won it in the 104th minute.

Yeah but Italy 3-2 Brazil had everything. A hat-trick for a player rumoured to have been finished. A scorcher from Falcao and a superb goal by the 40 a day doctor - Socrates.

I'll have to pick up a dvd on ebay of the 1982 Italy-Brazil match.
My football world cup watching only stretches back to 1994 with the exception of a couple dvds I picked up of earlier matches. From the few matches I saw of the 70s-80s WCs it seems like the football was much more beautiful. The 06 WC was terrible, there were only 2 good matches (AUS 3-Jap 1 Cahill double as a sub, AUS 2 Croatia 2 which was awful football but great comedy). It seems like everybody just packs it in today and try to score on the counterattack.
Another match I enjoyed was the Brazil 5 Costa Rica 2 matchup in 2002 in which Costa Rica just said F-it we don't care about going to the round of 16 (they had 4pts and lost out to turkey on GD). So we're not packing it in and going right at Brazil and both teams put on a show for the fans. They did make it 3-2 after the 50th minute too. Edmilson had a great overhead kick to bag Brazil's 3rd goal.
