I have no idea how I found this forum, but I kinda like it already. I watch soccer because watching NFL football on Sundays in the U.S. was making me physically ill. A bunch of liquored up dingalings yelling at a screen about something they don't really understand, while gambling the wife's house money isn't exactly fun. Add in the bravado-filled players just waiting for the day they dodder about from the results of concussions and moving onto the real football was easy.

I started watching Everton when Landon Donovan was featured on an ESPN story. Watching a few matches commented upon by Steve McManaman and Ian Darke and I was hooked.

Back then, I loved the play of Jelavic, loved the "who me ? I didn't do anything!" style of Fellani. I miss his attitude in the current team. I also loved to scream at Steven Pienaar for his play.

Currently, I scream at Gareth Barry, Seamus Coleman and Kone. And RoMart. Fav player ? Brian. Os. Naisy. I think that Steven took the place of Pienaar for my yelling.

I tried to get along with local US fan clubs, but found them lacking terribly. Too much cheering, too much recruiting, too much attitude. If I want that, I can always watch matches with Arsenal fans! Being an Everton fan isn't for the faint of heart. Its much like democracy. You have to want it bad. For some reason I'll never understand, you are chosen (not recruited) and there isn't a lot you can do about it. Similar to a NY Mets fan (compare the NY Yankees to LFC), but with a whole lot less chance for future success. "Why not watch MU, MC or ARS ?" some will ask ? Simple. If EVE is in my heart, why would I countermand that for the sake of some song about never being alone ?

Pineapple on Pizza ? Except for the challenge of not making the dough soggy, I'm all for it. I make our own sauce and make our own pizza with dough from a local bakery.

I watch matches most often by myself in a Portuguese sports club in Fall River, Massachusetts, often drinking expresso and vodka on Saturday mornings with other fans discussing Beneficia, Sporting, Real Madrid, etc.

I listen to Linda Mac on BBC Merseyside radio each night and look forward to the delivery of the next EVE trophy....or the next time I get to yell at a Steven....or the next win agin LFC or ARS.

I am long married to a wonderful woman who retains exceptional looks at our advanced ages.

We are cat parents to two exceptionally nutty, but lovable calico cats (Becky and Amy).

But they don't watch the matches, choosing to sleep most of the time instead.

Best regards,

Tim

Welcome mate, great opening stanza to hopefully a long and fruitful life on GOT.
Pineapple on Pizza is heresy though so your stance to that should be amended soon as humanly possible. Have fun xx
