Heitinga hints at Everton exit

His non-aggressive, slower style would suit some Italian teams, but their league isn't as slow and passive as some would think.

As moyeslovechild says though, his wage demands are out of reach of most of their clubs.

I thought Heitinga would attract attention from Hamburg, given his connection with the old Dutch manager there, van Marwijk.

Hamburg are chronic at the back and about 6th from bottom of the Bundesliga. They are a rich club who can spend to fix the problem, so you'd wonder why a manager who had no hesitation naming him for the whole of a world cup wouldn't be throwing their hat into the ring...unless they're waiting to get him for nothing in June.

I've heard an interesting one bout this transfer to west ham ... apparently it's common knowledge big sam's a crafty one

I heard when he signs a player he get's them good wages but they have to sign up with his agent who they own a agency together with apparently when heitinga went up to meet sam wasnt there just this agent .. defo put johnny off think hes got a good relationship with his agent and never fancied changing him

like T said I dunno how reliable this is but it wouldn't surprise me with sam

Perhaps. I just don't think he really wants a loan, especially not to West Ham. I don't have any sources, just logic.

That sounds legally dubious at best. Surely the FA would knock any such arrangement on the head?

A group of leading agents have complained about the conduct of a Premier League manager.

The complaints have sparked enquiries into the way that the manager recommends his players to ditch their existing representatives and switch to the man he nominates.

Sunday Mirror Sport understands that there is evidence to support claims made against the well-known boss.

We have been made aware of evidence compiled by agents that suggests the manager tried to influence top young players to sever ties with their existing advisers.

The players were allegedly told that the manager would advise the club to offer them lucrative new contracts – providing they ditched their existing representative and switched to the agent chosen by their boss.

Claims have also been made that at least one transfer broke down when a senior player refused to be pressured into ditching his long-term agent.

At the moment we are choosing not to name the manager or the club in question. But agents have confirmed that they have separately contacted senior executives at the club in question to outline their concerns.

They allege the manager has overstepped the mark by exploiting his position to help his chosen agent acquire new clients, with the agent able to receive lucrative fees for the new deals. Usually the biggest commission payments to agents are linked to transfers. But clubs also pay commission on new contracts.

It is common practice for five per cent commission to be paid to the agent on a player’s earnings during the duration of their contract. The agent at the centre of these complaints and being favoured by the manager will be guaranteed a series of payments.

Having a group of emerging young players, who may generate future contract renewals, is an attractive opportunity for any agent.

It is the route by which the agent-player agreement is being reached that is sparking complaints.

Sunday Mirror Sport has spoken to the club allegedly at the centre of this row. They declined to comment.

At one point it is alleged that the manager even asked a senior player for help in persuading his
team-mate to switch to the agent that he recommended.

A source said: “Senior executives of the club have been made aware of the conduct of both the manager and the agent he is trying to promote.

“It is getting to the point where the only option left is to make an official complaint to the FA and present the evidence to them.”
