Born and raised in South Lincolnshire, now live in London. My old man's a Scouser and passed Everton on to me like a hereditary disease.
First game I remember was losing to Villa 6-2 in... 1988 mebbe? Second game I remember was losing the 1989 cup final. I was 7. I cried. My uncle, a West Ham fan, taunted me the entire game. Supported Ireland in Italia 90 because Kevin Sheedy played for them. Grew up surrounded by Liverpool fans at primary school and Man United fans at secondary school, me a lone Everton island. First football match I ever went to was away at QPR - Andy Hinchcliffe scored lovely free kick to win the game 3-2.
I've been to Goodison only a handful of times so sometimes feel like a bit of a fraud, especially given how strongly Everton are connected with the city of Liverpool. But Everton are my football obsession (and I have almost zero interest in any other team or their players) and I'm pleased I found this place.
I'll leave it with this: I hooked up with my Mrs first time the night before the 2012 FA Cup semi final. She wanted to see me the next day but I needed to be in a pub to watch the game. So she met me in the pub and watched the entire game with me, even though she had no interest in football. We lost to them 2-1 but that day I knew I'd marry that woman. Would've been better if we won, like.
