Hi everyone,
I have been lurking for the last few months so thought I should finally post.
I am an Aussie by birth but did a lot of my schooling in the UK (North Essex) in the 80s.
In the mid 80s when I was about 12-13 I got into football and my local teams were non league. I did as I imagine what a lot of kids who don't live in the shadow of a professional team and chose one of the better teams to support.
A bunch of the kids at school supported Liverpool or one of the London teams. For a number of reasons I chose Everton not least it seemed to be the tossers that supporter Liverpool and I took a dislike to Ian Rush. Luckily for me Everton had a good run then.
I had moved back to Oz by 1990 and in those days football was not shown over here and I kept tabs on the team through odd scores I caught in the papers and the odd bit of footage. While I was not the most avid of supporters my allegiance has never wavered through all the ups and downs of the last 20 years
Over the last few years I have got back into following the team and became a bit of an insomniac trying to watch as many games as I could last season.
Looking forward to the new season if the lads stay together
