Hello Everyone,

I am in the beginning stages of trying to plan a trip for myself maybe one other to attend an Everton game this year. I live in the United States and graduated college a year ago so I do not have tons and tons of money. So help me out. I need suggestions on places to stay, how to get tickets, etc.

I have followed the team for years and I live and die on match day for Everton so I am excited to make this happy. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Cheap as chips lads and bang in the City Centre.

To be honest, I know you will wanna see a "big" game, but tickets are normally a little harder to get, so while coming over to watch us versus the likes of Bolton might not appeal greatly, considering the trip your making, you wanna make sure you can get tickets that dont have a huge post in the way.

The cost of flights are going to be my biggest issue but it will be worth it. I am hoping to stay for several days but depending on the cost I may not get to do that.

I don't care if I see Stoke or Chelsea I just want to walk into Goodison with my Everton shirt on. I want to see the mass of blue exiting Goodison after a big win. I want to sit in a pub and have a beer. I am going to for the experience!

Thanks in advance for the tips!

Great sentiment :) TBH, some of the best games I've seen have been the "not big" teams- whatever you watch your heart will stir when you hear Zed Cars starting, it gets me every time, no matter how much I moan during the week, there's still nothing as wonderful as hearing that and seeing the team run out.

Advice- have you tried the couch surfing website? You might find some people in Liverpool/ The UK willing to put you up, or at least meet up for a drink- it's a great way to meet people (but then, Liverpool is a friendly city anyway). For flights, I don't know if it works in the USA to UK direction, but it should do- have you tried kayak.com? They usually come up with great deals.

Hope that helps. And enjoy your time here :)

A couple of friends of ours came over from America for a week or so in January this year. They knew a little about Everton mainly due to Tim Howard and Donovan but were yet to watch a match, so they really wanted to go to a game and we all went to Tottenham at home.

Needless to say it was a fantastic game and they absolutely loved it, they couldn't believe the atmosphere and the noise generated, they said they hadn't experienced anything like it in the states.

They're Everton mad now, bought a home shirt each after the game and they recently watched us take on DC United in pre-season.

Hopefully it has the same effect on you mate, I'm sure you will enjoy your stay.

I will look at those. Thanks

I became Everton mad about 5 years ago. I have the home top for every season from 1995-2010. Scarves, posters, etc... now it's time for me to see a game in person.

Welcome on board.

I also stayed at the Britannia Adelphi Liverpool last time and felt it was pretty good for the price.
I did read there's supposed to be a lot of rats there, but you prolly won't spend too much time in there with the game, the pubs and the shopping possibilities, coz Liverpool seems to be well equipped with that stuff.
