Hi all. New to the forum, though an Everton follower for some time. Born Colombian, while lived in USA most of my life. Why Everton? well, if I must confess, because my good friend was crazy for Anfield, and I wanted to annoy him.... as it turns out, James and Mina are much, much better reasons to follow it now. Fate? perhaps it was meant to be.

Fun fact: The Colombian Red team is Santa Fe and the Blue team is Millonarios. Both from Bogota. No wonder, I was born a (Colombian) blue....

For all of you that are killing Pickford here, I respectfully invite you to pause for a minute, and remember this game (England-Colombia 2018 world cup):

Yerry Mina scored for Colombia. James could not play, as he was injured the previous match. Pickford saved the day for England more than once.

Pickford may be going through a very rough time, but he has it in him... so, I say: In Carlo we trust!!!

Thank you for the welcoming message... as for the INSTANT BAN. I suggest we wait and see. Don Carlo knows a whole lot more than any of us simple mortals. He might come back from the dark side after the break.

Think of that scene from Jurassic the park when there is loads of dinosaur poo, treble then amount of pio, then times that by 10 then you are still nowhere near the levels of the amount of dirt he serves up.

Welcome, post loads.

I think what Pickford is going through is ugly especially when the abuse emanates from his own fans, but I remember during that world cup and the Croatia game, in particular, beginning to feel grave doubts about Pickford and his ability to keep calm under pressure.

I think even in that game he unsettled our defence (and me) after one very big let-off when the ball was being passed around at the back.

Probably would have lost anyway as we were spent in that second half but I do vividly remember thinking that Pickford was a bit unstable and feeling nervous whenever the ball went near him. I always feel like that now! It isn't only his mistakes he kind of just loses his head, his ongoing feud with Newcastle fans being the best example of that I can think of just now.

Hope for the team and the sake of his own future he can get it under control but it's an incredibly high-pressure environment to be working in and I can well understand why he, and so many other GK's end up getting the boot. The ability to play at that level is half talent, and half the ability to deal with the intense scrutiny, and I think even players like Barkley struggle with it and would be (or are) much better players than they appear because they lack composure under pressure.

I do respect that, Wolf8312. You are right. Mistakes are not the issue per se, but the lack of mental self mastery to deal with them, that matters. I may only offer two comments about this:

1) A piece of good news: Both James and Mina, whom I have followed since they were kids, have a great deal of mental discipline and control in adversity. While I may have forever tarnished my own credibility in this forum with my initial post, you may as well want to hear this.

2) Remember Radamel Falcao? One of the biggest flops in history for Chelsea and Manchester United? Gess what? went on from there to become a massive scorer again for Monaco the next year and will play with James and Mina in a couple of days. Waht does this teach us? Well, perhaps Pickford must leave Everton and become great agian somewhere else. I still believe he has it in him... seen some awsome saves over the years. Granted, I do remember the Jusrasic park scene...
