All European royals were inbred but Habsburgs really upped the ante.

Same thing here in former Yugoslavia, Soviet Union and Red army was always teached as decisive for German defeat in schools, but ask your average kid here today 90 percent would said USA alone, Call of Duty, Band of Brothers and movies like Saving Private Ryan and similar are very effective.
Britain is barely mentioned in context of Western front, its just USA, USA, USA.

Geo-politics has always been a factor in the propaganda of nation states. The seemingly billions of war films the UK produced in the 50s and 60s barely mention the Soviet Union. A fine example is the current D Day commemorations, barely a peep about them. Of course, films need to make money, so seeing grizzled Russians in the snow is not exactly a selling point.
