Holgate Racially Abused By Firmino - The Guardian

Not point scoring would be recognising that both lads were more than likely racially abused. I’ve not met any Evertonian who doesn’t think Brewster more than likely was, yet because it was their own player there was a whole legion of Liverpool fans who sought to tear Holgate’s character to pieces and sadly there were some so called Everton fans who were more than happy to gloat when it came back with insufficient evidence.

Calling out hypocrisy, double standards and poor behaviour is not point scoring.

Two young black lads upset at receiving what they perceived as racial abuse. Both dismissed by the powers that be.

The "kick it out" campaign is nothing but lip service.

That is the key word.

Just because a person “perceives” something does not make it so.

And in the absence of corroborative evidence there is nowt the powers that be can do.

Agreed. It must be frustrating for POC though. I'd honestly like for Holgate to give an interview about it, break his silence, if you will. I suspect he was told by the club to not do it for whatever reason. The Brewster kid did a big interview in the Guardian about what was said and if it was repeated verbatim then there's little room for mishearing or any other incorrect interpretation. However as you say, with a lack of evidence what can they do?

I dont think either lied, misheard or mis understood, just a lack of solid evidence to back up the claims

Of course.

But, according to Kopites, Holgate is a liar who should be banned and Brewster has been victimised. Obviously.

Oh ace, this important and popular topic is back. Let's see if we can get it past the 1000 mark. I think both players should fight a duel on Stanley Park before a baying crowd of partisan fans. Holgate gets the first shot.
