Birmingham recently sold. Portsmouth recently sold. Mike Ashely had Newcastle on the table to be sold and has very recently changed his mind. West Ham trying to pimp themselves to anyone with a few quid to bail them out of the financial hole the Icelanders sunk them into. Liverpool repeatedly linked with Arabian cash because one or the other (or maybe even both) of the Americans appear to want out.
What has any of this to do with Hoof ball/the long ball game? Well, if the economic turn around keeps erm, turning around, then advertising will pick up meaning more money on tv, which knocks onto the up coming negotiations for the live broadcast rights which in turn sees more cash heading into clubs (in the most extreme cases the prem clubs). Could the football bubble keep expanding? The prem keeps breaking into/onto foreign markets which means market ability and sustained interest (as well as heightened sponsorship possibilities). Would you say that buying into a football club now (at a relatively cheap cost) is wise with an eye on speculating that as the world economy picks up that the football machine will see said investment in a club be a wise long term (long ball) financial calculation.
In a nutshell, buy into the prem as cheap as possible now to either reap the dividends over the forthcoming seasons or buy and invest to make the club more attractive so as to be able to sell at a much inflated price some years down the line.
