Its monday morning, and there are plenty of write ups of the weekends games, not least our sunday game against charlton, so the toffeeweb MAIN SITE has their review, Bluekipper has yet to throw theirs up, satis and WSAG have theirs up as well now (wsag being notable because they link to a write up done by a charlton fan on a similar site).

Anyway, back to the point, it appears i missed something yesterday, that parts of the crowd got on beatties back and that naysmith was booed as he was subbed on.

Im not best pleased with either, i wanted beattie subbed off but dont want him kicked whilst he is down, and it extends to naysmith as well, at times he is utterly appauling but booing even before he has had a kick is mindless.

I mentioned before this post that i disliked greatly the booing Davies got in the west brom game last season, the poor sod was applauding the fans and recognising their support and efforts, and he gets a kick in the teeth for his trouble (his winning goal against brum at the height of our troubles shouldnt be so easily dismissed)

Goodison is supposed to be a feared place for the opposition to visit not for our players to have doubts about the support, it doesnt show the supporters in a good light, nor the club and only strengthens any problems the squad is carrying.

Yes i want naysmith at rangers, yes im frustrated with beattie, but i wont engage in the disgraceful behaviour of some 'fans' by overly criticising players in poor form with little chance of redemption.

Exactly Suits. I would never even dream of booing anybody wearing the blue shirt. I give them my full support when they're playing for us, and regardless of how [Poor language removed] they've played I'd never ever boo. It's pointless, they're never going to get better by booing. You never know, giving them a clap when they go off might just be the inspiration they need to get their act together.

As long as a player shows effort then there is no reason to boo them. Beattie has shown a tremendous attitude this season in what must be a humiliating situation for him being behind both Vaughan and Anichebe in the pecking order. Not once has he moaned to the press or caused disruption in the squad. It's no doubt fair to say that his move hasn't worked out but for me he's been a good professional since he's been here.

Sorry boys, but Beattie yesterday was absolutely woeful. His touch was gone, he was stumbling over his own feet. He hardly put his headers in the right places (when he won them). His header at SC had zero power on it. His 2nd header on goal, yes he was unbalanced fair enough but he was under no pressure really and totally totally fluffed it.
He might wear the shirt, but its time to face it. This is more than a "2 season" blip. He HAS lost a shed load of weight(which I noticed last match and was hopeful about) but it just never helped. He looked knackered and his touch was just not there. He never integrated with the team either. He never really chased any lost causes which was annoying.
He actually GAVE UP on a ball that came down the right wing after it went away from him. He just stood there watching the ball. Johnson zips in from behind him, makes a sharp tackle on the Charlton player who picked it up and comes away with the ball and bang we're on the attack again. Beattie was still just stood there watching. Johnson just played the ball past him and ran in to the box. Why didn't Beattie do that?

Check TW for my posts about Beattie. I've been his biggest supporter on the forums I really really have. I still in my heart want it to work out for him and everytime he plays I believe in him, he is an Everton no.9.
But I just could not put up with watching him anymore against Charlton I was in disbelief at his display. I was beginning to doubt if Moyes was watching the same game letting us come under pressure due to Beattie and his lack of prowess and threat in their half. The game was turning in Charltons favour and Moyes about 5 minutes too late for my liking made a killer sub and took Beattie off. Excellent decision. I stood and clapped the lad, but any longer and I would have been shouting for him to get subbed off too.

Nobody booed Naysmith coming on. When a break in play happens and a sub is stripped and ready to come up, people stand up and clap in anticipation of who is going off and who is coming on. When Naysmiths number came up on the board for Stubbs people just looked at each other and went "eh Naysmith? Stubbs must be injured" or "uh?" It wasn't booing but it was a noticeable "moment" in the clapping when people talked to each other, then the clapping resumed. I heard no booing.

Arteta took a hell of a knock in that match just before he was subbed off. I haven't heard anyone saying he is injured or otherwise (I think the win has overshadowed his substitution and anything that brought it about). Is he injured? He was getting the "follow my finger" routine for quite a while.

worrying about arteta, its how sides deal with him and the christiano ronaldos, only mikel doesnt get a teaspoon of the protection from referees ronaldo does. (that g14 point again)

i was at the blackburn cup game, and naysmith was clearly not sharp, a few passes went astray and the crowd booed, it started as grumbles and built from there.

i have the upmost respect for the fan that went onto the pitch at highbury to swap shirts with nyarko, there was a player that was a strong athlete but was so weak minded and weak willed it was a tragedy, that was a player worth booing, same with bilic, and jeffers on his loan. At times i can understand the crowd venting their feelings, pembridge and unsworth spring to mind, two very ordinary players with limited skill that the crowd supported and still give a cheer too on their returns (throw killa in there too), it just seems that sometimes a player or players get a bad deal from the crowd, the unbalanced nature of such fan focus is i suppose what im getting at.

Much as it pains me I have to agree with ichigo. Beattie yesterday showed to me that he was only playing because he was told to. When osman, crossed BT still had his foot on the ground. a jump may have helped. balls going under his feet, allowing AJ to chase balls that BT had lost, no first touch whatsoever, sorry lad, this is the premiership, wake up. Moyes has tried to help him by saying"he was tired at half time, he said he felt unwell" if that was the case then why not sub him there and then. He is meant to be a target man, but does not make himself available to be hit. I have defended BT far too much in the past but I have to accept defeat now and wish him on his merry way. I hope the future bodes well for him because I like him as a person, I just don't feel he is an asset to our club and for his own future and career should accept this and move on.

Suits. I've agreed with every point you've made so far except the Nyarko comment.

For me, that was an utter lack of class on the part of the supporter. He may have thought he was making a point but to me, that was all about, "Hey, look at me."

I started supporting Everton around that time and while I understand the supporters can get upset if they perceive a player's lack of commitment, I think booing is a better way of showing it than what that guy did. Nyarko obviously had problems both on the pitch and off but it didn't excuse what that guy did.

Everton supporters need to be better than that.

i understand it wasnt acceptable or excusable, that said it wasnt like the guy that ran onto the pitch and pretended to duke it out with robbie savage (i wish he had hit him), i hold a great deal of respect for the fan that went onto the pitch and offered to swap shirts, that fan is the epitomy of everything nyarko wasnt, the fan cared so much and was so committed he did what he did knowing he would get a serious if not lifetime ban from watching live football ever again.

nyarko didnt give a [Poor language removed], that fan did, and as long as fans care that much about everton and the royal blue shirt then i know everton will be in safe hands long after im gone.

(to surmise, the man did the right thing in the wrong way - maybe he felt booing wasnt enough, and in nyarkos case, booing was the last thing on his mind)

Nyarko/Beattie are two different situations and two very different players both in style and ethnic origin. There should never have been a reason for the fan to have offered to swap tops with Nyarko, the management at the club should have installed that pride in the player, they failed abysmally as they did at most things. At present the fans should see how well the team gel together, how much store DM places in team spirit and how that spirit can pull us through. Booing of any player is distasteful, booing of a player when it could serve to undermine that team spirit is criminal at any club, do they want us to turn into a Fulham.

Our team togetherness was summed up perfectly yesterday when Phil Nevile ran up and gave BT a consoling pat on the back, the crowd, imo, responded to that action and the lad was applauded from the field, sympathy yes but also respect. Most will know that my thoughts about BT have been negative for long before this season began and long before it became fashionable but as an old arse I would expect all fellow blues to respect anyone who dons the RBJ because they will be representing every one of us out on the park.

What happened yesterday was an absolute utter disgrace, Beattie didnt deserve to be sarcasticly booed off no matter what, ive always tryed to get behind him (always have on bluekipper when being slated and at the match) but he was frustrating yesterday, just looked like he had given up?

Some [Poor language removed] was abusing him, he needs to sort himself out and have a word, the tit.

I'd agree with that.
