Reidy's Bottle Of Grecian

The Unobstructed View
we've all done it, walking round asda and spotted something we've never had before and thought,"mmmmmmm that sounds nice ithink i'll have some of that tonight" it results in one of two things
a ) tastes tremendous.
b ) ruins your tea.

tonight i am lighting up the weber and spotted in th'asda some .....
levi roots , reggae reggae sauce .
it will no doubt be lashing it down as i cook it but i will ignore that fact and put on a bit of eddie grant and persevere in my pursuit of at least pretending it's a summers day. i will report back on whether or not it's any good later in the evening, although i must warn you that it may have the effect of making me talk jive.

so what have you thrown caution to the wind with of late, and was it worth it or did it end up in the dog. maybe, you've always convinced yourself you hate something and finally tasted it and now cant get enough.
* reggae reggae sauce, the taste of the notting hill carnival, is actually made in the pataks curry factory in leigh, me is thinking that it's a hell of a long way from the east indies to the west indies,so we'll see how the crossover goes.
by the way i have marinated some drumsticks with it, and i shall be washing it down with some real ale and murphy's

i love the taste of reggae reggae but i think some bottles get landed with more chilli than others, somethimes av had it its dead sweet other times me mouths been on fire other chilli symptoms....hit n miss for me

I think the guy that originally devised reggae reggae sauce was on Dragons Den so he's a Jamaican English type, which is why its made over here, not tasted it yet but seen thats its on offer in asda for a quid so ill get the missus to get some tomorrow when she goes shopping

his name is levi roots and he was a mate of bob marley, and was nominated for a mobo award in 1998.
He served time in prison (5 years) on drug-related charges.(secret ingredient maybe)
The song which formed part of his pitch on Dragons' Den (and also sung by Levi himself in an appearance on Harry Hill's TV Burp) was also released as a download single. "Proper Tings (The Reggae Reggae Sauce Song)"

Funnily enough, I was introduced to the reggae reggae sauce last night at barbecue (along with copious amounts of Beck's). It was very, very nice. I was told it was made by a guy from the Dragon's Den series in conjunction with one of the Dragon's backing. It was sweet, mildy hot and spicy.
