I've gone for relieved as I am so detached from the club nowadays that it would open up a huge space in my life to do better things that make me happy, not base my life around when Dwight McNeil and Thomas Davies will be running around a football field embarrassing themselves again, but earning millions in the process.

The hours previously spent following a club that only angers and upsets you could instead of used to take up a new hobby, learn a new language, spend more time with family and friends, etc.

For me, it was magical, even though we were crap, to be an Everton fan as a kid in the 90s. Had my heroes, even got to meet them once in the players' lounge in 1996, and thought I might have the chance to see some of the success my dad had so often talked about from the 60s and 80s. Alas, my whole Everton supporting life has proven to be one misery after the next, and this now is as bad as it's ever been.

Am I expected to wait another 20 years before there is another whiff of success? I can't be bothered with it.

Relief for me

They are messing with my head and I could do without it
It's so sad.

They're probably why we got into footy. They're what keeps us coming back for more. But they ruin our lives.

We aren't even crap and own it. We aren't even just a crap team forever condemned to be in the lower leagues, but at least you can get around for 'relatively' cheap and have a beer watching the crap.

It's just crap, expensive tosh, all the time, over and over.

I went for relieved. Like all addictions it's bad for the health, lacks true enjoyment, impacts the rest of my life and l'm happier without it (close season).
It’s mad the emotions they can put you through and how much they can ruin your weekend what makes it even worse is the thought of ? McNeil walking around a pitch not bothered and then probably taking his kid to school in his lambo pulling out his electric gates honestly what a sad state football is in with players of his calibre earning ridiculous money some of footballs greats would be turning in their grave seeing this, not even greats just good honest pros who put it on the line every week that’s literally all you can ask for with a squad like this, so yes I will say relieved after that rant feel a bit better now ?

I would be ecstatic.

EFC used to bring such joy to my life, even in bad times.

Now it is just misery heaped upon misery, season after season.

All optimism is gone and all hope extinguished.

I am so glad I wasn’t there tonight.

Having said all that, I will be back up for it versus Saints next weekend

Relieved. It'll be great never having to spend xmas worrying about boxing day, doing formations with my sprouts on the plate, or using a giant toblerone to figure out the league if we W/D/L and (other team) don't win by 2+ goals while mercury rises.

Every weekend of my life, with a gnawing feeling of dread in my stomach. Heart pounding, blood pressure rising, hairline receding. And right now - just one phrase I'm repeating over and over in my mind.... "going down".
