If you had to draw "society"

*Hopes latch comes online soon*

Need 2 ideas. So far I have a tree (being society) with its roots being what makes society function (so education, families blah blah)

What this work has to do with Criminology i'll never know...

A plate of spaghetti with numerous people sucking at different strands from a birdseye view. Doing this you can represent all sections of the worlds society. By adding meat balls with titles you can also highlight problems faced by all. I got away with that many years ago, quote 'shows excellent promise' tossers

How about drawing the unfairness of society !

Starting in the middle of the paper and working in an outward spiral, making your drawings larger as you spiral out.

In the middle start with a picture of Hunger/Poverty and slowly add drawings of wealth and more wealth, maybe finishing with a drawing of a millionaire sitting on all his money wondering what else he could do with it.
If your initial drawing in the middle is of a down 'n' out sitting on the pavement wondering where his next penny is coming from then you would have a 'connection' between your first and last drawing, clever eh !

Best of luck.

Remember a society is not meant to encompass the population as a whole, so in terms of referring to Criminology, there is the criminal society - or criminal network.

To answer your question, it depends on the type of society you're trying to define, some societies have very rigid heirarchical (spelt?) structures, others, as Bruce pointed out can be chaotic. Pick the most simple version - personally, I'd use node and lines, you can group nodes into any formation, and represent the social connectivity using the lines.

I'll get my coat ...

How about a family of fat americans eating at mcdonalds and underneath a million starving kids....

too depressing?

What's with your dislike of all things American?

all things? nah, just the obesity, epitomises the fat cats of the world, too much of everything while half the world suffers.

Not just america of course, but I reckon for Danny's work targeting America would have the most impact.

Epitomises the fat cats? Eh? This is the land of capitalism. If you have the smarts and the will, you will make your money.

This just stinks of cop-out Rob.
