Important criteria when buying a club

I thought it might be useful to list the criteria by which you, if you were an impartial investor, would consider buying a football club. Please post below your criteria in order of importance and we can build a master list.

Must bite tongue, must bite tongue.

You provided rationale for why you would buy Everton. You're beating up on the club (for a change) because investors would rather buy other clubs. Hence this thread. Presumably Chelsea don't want to build a stadium in Liverpool.

To be honest, i could give a rats arse what criteria prospective owners would use to buy other clubs. That would be a very abstract discussion. Let's stick to concrete reality shall we and limit this to everton FC and the conditions governing our possible sale...which we all have some level of knowledge of.

most important is that the club has the right length shaft, the grip shouldn't slip, it has to be the right club for the job, no point getting a sand wedge if you need a driver and finally have a few practice swings to make sure it feels right.

business link, pffffft, just ask reidy.

btw this will be the same business link that i did some courses through, they contacted me afterwards to see how business was going then proceeded to give people advice on doing exactly the same thing in the same area.

pass/passed...present tense/past tense...it's all the same if if the club isn't being bought isn't it? We are being overlooked. Yes, I think that's what it's called when nearly every peer group club has been snaffled up by new owners.

Hmmm....

You quick enough to bring in other clubs when it suits you though, ay?

Very good thread Bruce, I will provide my input later. It will no doubt be rather depressing though seeing as we are lacking in virtually every aspect.

Will be interesting though to see if there is any justification towards us being an attractive proposition to potential buyers in comparison to the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and Newcastle.

If we dont fit ANY of that criteria then we wont do in 5-10 years time. We'll have to borrow, sell more, generate cash somehow which will make things alot harder than they are now making us less attractive and would hinder success on the pitch.

As pointed out on the other thread. Investors would be putting less money into Everton FC and more likely to generate success on par with your top 4 than they would do with anyother club below us. If that's not attractive we're not going to be sold in a very very long time.

So we're the only club investors look at are they? Surely investors approach things with a set of criteria which they judge all available clubs against?

But that criteria is obvious and doesn't require much attention:

1 Are you for sale?
2 How much are you selling for?
3 What is your level of debt?
4 What are your assets?

The devil is in the detail of each club.
