its not so much a 'party' holiday, its more a cookout/barbeque type day, everyone wears red white and blue, and we set off fireworks at night

BBQ and to my brother in law's pool. Family all around. Fireworks shows all across the Dallas area. We won't go this year since we saw some last week but that is usually on the agenda.

Full of burgers and dogs and potato salad, and gripping a cold Budweiser (a fine local product.)

I love this place. God Bless America. However, we should never forget that America would never be what it is without British men and British law. Just because we went our own way doesn't change the fact that it is our heritage. I believe in the idea of the Anglosphere.

Win or lose, you can't beat fun at the old ball park, Bill. That's something a Cubs fan learns very early on. It was almost too hot to breathe down here today, the Cubs lost, I found out about Steve McNair - but standing at the side of the river watching the fireworks, talking to the neighbors - it was still a great day. And Freddie Adu even scored a goal. Imagine.

It's a different game.

I love Football but I really like Baseball too.

It certainly isn't for everyone though.

I went to watch the local football team. They are dead last in the league and pulled off a draw with a 93rd minute equalizer against the 3rd place team. Fireworks after, plenty of beer and beef beforehand.
And yes, baseball is unbelievably boring to watch, but a lot of people seem to love it.
