Just got back from the local Googolplex, managed to partake in a motion picture and not a bad one at that.
Iron Man, starring Downey Jr, Jeff Bridges, Gwynnie Paltrow and the smouldering Terence Howard. Downey Jr is the unlikely billionare genious and is the strangely perfect hero for the latest Hollywood offering. I think its got more to do with the Direction for Jon Favrau, kind of the behind the camera Downey Jr.
The pace of the film is perfect, the script is solid, and the camera work isnt shaky for the sake of being arty, or perfect for the sake of also being arty. Its really a fun movie. Sure, the whole good message thing is conveyed but not over the top. Theres a limit on the cheesey lines, replaced with a more sardonic Downey Jr style. Theres cool weapons, great chases, destruction, chicks and a great performance from Bridges.
Worth the price of admission, better than the spidermans, the hulk (although I cant wait to see the new one) and the other marvel offerings. Worth the price of admission for two reasons, bar the special effects. The first is Stan Lee's hilarious cameo, and the second is the very last moment of the film. Its truly priceless.
4 and a half stars.
