It could only happen to the Toon Army

Bruce Wayne

Player Valuation: £100m
It seems everything they touch turns to crap. First Mike Ashey buys the club and months later is being pilloried by the stock exchange for the sloppy way Sports Direct deals with the markets, and indeed for the sloppy way the company seems to be run.

And now we have Northern Rock, proud shirt sponsors of the barcodes, on its knees scrabbling about for survival as the US sub-prime difficulties spread east.

First thing I thought of when I read about the issues with Northern Rock is, "Uh oh, looks like Newcastle will be looking for a new sponsor next year."

Couldn't happen to a better club.

They'll make more $$$ if Northern Rock pulls out of sponsorship so it could be a blessing in disguise.

It doesn't look like Ashey is going to own the team that much longer now. I'm guessing the club is worth 300+ Million pounds now so they might get a much more stable Billionaire to buy the club. Or an arrogant Ruskie who picks the side. Good Times in Toon town. (y)
