If you don't like Apple, but have iTunes for Windows, you have to be impressed with the Genius feature.

Have been using it since its release now, and I have to say its quality.

There is some strange tracks thrown in now and again, but by in large its immense, plus you can save the playlist that Genius creates, remove tracks your not keen on, and have your iPod or iPhone sync it. I only ever have playlists on my iPhone/iPod - saves on space, plus its more like having my own radio station.

Windows Media Player is well better.

You have patterns while the music plays.

Its all about the visualisation, Apple just dont understand. Far too commercial, I dont want to buy Hilary Duffs new album. Windows Media Player knows and appreciates that, Apple just dont seem to be able to grasp that concept.

You have to be kidding me.

Apple has visualisation if you want it. What is commercial? A little unobtrusive sidebar that says if you like this, you may like that. It's just good business sense, and adds to the whole experience. Windows Media Player is like its owners, completely devoid of any original ideas.

Zune. **** me???

You monster - Are you saying I am completely devoid of any original ideas?

Without using it, I can comfortably state that Spotify far exceeds that purpose. :P

Conclusion? Another epic fail from Apple.

Use it first mate, then comment.

By the way, I know its a wind up, that's all that happens on this site at the moment. I even thought my recent infractions were wind ups. But then that's probably the other side of the coin,

it works a little funny sometimes, i'm not sure why Alabama 3, David Bowie, Pink Floyd, Oasis, and Weezer would all come up when i click genius on a Sublime song.

i also wish it had more sensitivity to individual songs, some bands have some mellow songs and some fast songs, and when i Genius a mellow song, i'm usually looking for more of the same, so its annoying when it just pulls up artists it associates with that artist or whatever.

i will say however, that when genius first came out it was crap, so as more people get it and it gets more data it will only improve.

Seriously though, I do prefer Windows Media Player.

It serves its purpose better for me.

Can I ask why?

I used to use it when I was a Windows owner, then I saw the light. I wouldn't swap iTunes for anything. It just has far too many features for me to think about swapping it out.

Just used to it I suppose. Also found iTunes to irritate me more, asking to upgrade, adverts, not as responsive etc

You talk about features, I dont need any other than playing music :P Cant see much more you actually need?

Only ever use iTunes to update ipod.

Do you know why you get the upgrade requests, and adverts, and the fact its not as responsive? It's because it's on a windows machine. I don't get any upgrade requests, or adverts, and its very responsive for me. Must be a diluted version for Windows, can't say I blame them.

This.

Itunes kills my laptop, absolutely murders it, with guns and knives and everything. Polonium is thrown in too, eats at my computer from the insides until it dies.

Thus why my ipod was last updated in the summer of 2007
