so my itunes burner has malfunctioned. All of a sudden I'm getting the error message "disc burner or software not found".

Anyone else ever gotten this? How do I fix it? I burn a lot of CDs for friends. On a related note, is there any other programs that I can drag and drop playlists to to burn?

Ahh man, wounder.

Possible to reinstall itunes? I'm guessing all your music is on your computer anyway?

I only tend to share music through memory sticks nowadays, so not much use on the CD bit.

Nero, or maybe even Titanium Toast might work, not sure about integrating it into iTunes though.

Control, shift, and 'R' should how you where the files are on your computer. Don't move these but you can make copies which won't affect your iTunes library, then burn them using another program.

Another option is to google it and see if a forum picks it up. I can guarantee someone else has the same problem, but can't guarantee they fixed it.

Sorry if I'm not much help.

Jdawg for mayor!!!

What has me scared about reinstalling itunes is that my music is located in multiple folders, so it's not going to be an easy task to re-map those songs (especially the ones I've deleted from itunes but not my hard drive).

Forums haven't been much help surprisingly. Seems like it's a common problem, but haven't seen any surefire solutions.

Only two things gonna help you here mate:

1 - Stop being a beaut and ditch buying apple products.

2 - Get it up there.

That is Apple's way of reminding you that your monthly $1000 payment to Stevie J is late.

Doesn't iTunes (like all media software) have an option to collate all the media from all over your hard-drive?

Great tip. I had forgotten about that little utility. However, i think what i have is a hardware issue, not a software issue.

Back up all your tunes, dude.

Does sound like a problem with your CD/DVD drive though.

Do the usual and check the make/model ; try to get some reinstalling software or something.

And stop bashing Apple, you wierdos.

Ive just got Apple TV, and it's bloody awesome. All my media in one stop. None of this PC hodgepodge do it yourself rubbish.

If I'm going to get bummed I'd rather Jobs do one that Gates. He's old and frail and obviously has a tiny wee wee.

Done. Learned that lesson too many times the hard way.

Thanks, I'll play with it and call in my techie friends if I get frustrated and can't solve the problem in 45 seconds as per usual.

I must be one of the few people who's completely agnostic on all this. I have an ipad and an ipod, but I'm not a fanboy or anything.

I would actually love to get that.

Its the bees knees mate. All my songs and a bunch of movies all available in HD at the touch of a button, on my Telly, with my 5.1 sound, is boss. I'm converting stuff, I want to go completely digital now; this is the future, man.

I thought plastics were the future?

Have you tried upgrading the firmware in the CD/DVD drive?

Google 'firmware upgrade <your model of optical drive>'
