Phil Jagielka says it’s the players’ responsibility to put Everton back on track.
The 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa followed a 1-1 draw against Metalist Kharkiv and a 1-0 reverse at home to Man Utd.
With a Carling Cup tie scheduled for Wednesday, Jagielka sees it as the players' responsibility to forge a return to winning ways.
He told evertonTV: "We have got to kick on now. It's only the boys that are in there that can turn the results around - and we are going to do so.
"All the boys are together," continued Jags. "We know we have not been good enough these last couple of games and it is for us to turn the corner."
The Blues have had a few injury problems of late, and while Jagielka admits they don't help, he says the numbers are now there in the squad to compensate.
He's also keen to keep his place at the heart of Everton's midfield.
"Maybe the injuries are an issue," he conceded. "But we have got good players in the squad that can come in and it just depends if they can gel straight away.
"Hopefully I can make it (a central midfield place) my own, the gaffer has changed things round for a few games and it depends on what he wants to do.
"It doesn't matter where anyone plays as long as we are picking up points."

Love these quotes from our players every so often. I am still waiting for them to realise :
- Words mean sweet FA, say it on the pitch or get out.
- Saying things like "we suck" "we'll try harder" etc just pisses fans off.

Rant over before I go on a huge one...

It's better than them making excuses for defeats. I respect them for taking responsibility for their own form, but like you say words only go so far. Our rugby union team for instance are always honest and forthright about their performances and it hasn't helped them be any less poop.

As bruce says I appreciate them taking responsiblity but it doesnt really give us anything we dont know. We know its the players fault, we know their all together and we know they want to turn it around. Their just empty words to be fair, and dont really mean much at all.

Agreed Ichigo, reading this kind of statement does not help the way we feel at all, only doing it on the pitch matters.

I had rants against this Press Office statements before and this is no different. If anyone believes for one second that the back room staff are happy with the situation well they can only be a nutter or red. DM was going frantic on the touchline yesterday because he knew they were not doing what they should have done. This statement is a bit like a Great Train robber saying 'yes, fair cop.'

For once, I'd love a player to come out with some tasty morsels like:

"We don't give a s&%t what the supporters think."

"We're out there trying to lose the game on purpose and have been rather successful as of late."

"Who knows when our form will change but it won't last like this forever, or maybe it will."

"Yes injuries play a big part in this and anyone who thinks otherwise just doesn't have a clue."

Come On !!! Someone surprise me...

Yeah thats right Bill, or a player refusing to answer a question purlely because its too dumb. Questions we hear all the time like:

"Do you feel like the 2nd goal changed the game?"

"Are you dissapointed after that result?"

We hear all those pointless questions all the time, it would be great to hear a player be honest. Thats partly why I liked Mourinho, he generally told it straight, also cloughie before him. Cant think of too many players that have been brutally honest though.

I think the most telling comments of the week were Moyes's post match he was the angriest ive seen him in a long time, i pity our defence this week, for me he was absolutely livid. Hes comments on Yakubu were telling IMO too.
