James McCarthy considers himself 100% Irish. He isn't like Tony Cascarino or Matt Holland chancing their arm to play international football.

He is Scottish, just stating a fact and the Scottish are a fine nation of people. I find it highly insulting that you claim to be called Scottish is highly insulting.

If he ever gets to a situation whereby his body looks like staying in one piece, and he gets match fit, he'll do a cracking job for us, or someone else, but for now, it's just sad to watch.

clubs like chelski regularly find players they thought they had lost in old coat pockets or down the side of the couch. We are not that club and hopefully never will be so there is a list of players that might fall into that category if they stay another season. Jamo is at the top of that list...

Like it or not, with Barry leaving, and Barkley either not healthy or not being sold or whatever the story is with him, and I know J Mac has a completely different role, but he's not leaving this window. Perhaps in January, but RK has repeatedly talked about squad depth and reiterated he didn't want to sell Barry, I just can't see him willingly selling J Mac, who is good cover for Gana and Mo.

I think he'll have a part to play this season

I don't really get how Besic is loved and McCarthy is hated. Is it just the O'Neill/ireland thing? cause they're both injury crocks but McCarthy has played far better for Everton than Besic ever has. Yea, he had a few crap seasons but the whole squad had under Martinez. If you could offer me both these players fit, I'd take McCarthy any day.

Like Australian fast bowlers with PAT in their name they are never fit so get rid of both. No idea why any fan wants us to keep either other than Besic has worse tattoos than Sandro so is good to keep to laugh at.

Besic for me. McCarthy's good defensively but Besic offers far more going forward and has the ability to shoot as well. Plus Besic can play at CB as well. Pity both of them appear to be held together by elastic bands.

It is much easier t be classed as brilliant if you never actually play.
I hope Besic does very well, as I do with every Everton player, but I have my doubts about him and I think he is another injury away from becoming a totally peripheral figure at Everton.

I think McCarthy messed up his situation last season because of turning up for Ireland when not properly fit and then picking up long term injiuries.
The height of stupidity from McCarthy and O Neill.
I will be interested to see if McCarthy acts differently this season. I think he is a player that Koeman likes and will use a lot...if fit and sensible about his fitness.
