2020/21 James Rodriguez

I will genuinely lose all faith in Everton winning anything if it's now determined James Rodriguez isn't what we need and is moved on. He's the only one in the squad who's got a pot to piss in, and by that I mean trophies. He's a winner. Not surprised he looks pissed when we hardly have the ball in games and when we do we clump it forward like some turgid sunday league team.

I haven't seen one person advocate getting rid of him though? Just people saying he isn't playing well for whatever reason.

A lot of people seem a bit star struck by the fact a player with any sort of pedigree would come here, it blinds the fact he's obviously been in poor form since his return from injury.

The idea us winning trophies ever again revolves around a single player who's past his best is a bit mad. That would probably be confirmed by the type of clubs who would be coming in for him.

Let’s bash the one world class player in our team, in favour of Gylfi Siggurdson, blimey.
Do we think Rodriguez has been less effective since we lost Allan covering his lack of defending?

James

Sucks
Is lazy
Gets hurt too much
Doesn't defend
Is slow
Doesn't care
Is not good enough for our standards
Doesn't like the winter
Doesn't like Liverpool
Is soft
Is a pretty boy
Fakes injuries
Is a luxury player
Is a passenger
We are better without him
We don't need him
Gets carried
Nobody wants him
Has a big ass
Has no heart
Did I mention he sucks and is not good enough for us?

Anything else?

Can we move on now?

lol
we really don't deserve nice things...
i think some ppl will only move on when he single handedly wins us the treble (then they'll say oh we bought him to win the champions league) lol

“Did I mention he sucks and is not good enough for us” did you mean that? Before you move on.

With a fully fit first choice 11, but injuries are inevitable and even 1 player missing has a massive effect on us.

We haven't been free flowing since September (except the Spurs cup game, which was a bit weird) and that's pretty much the last time we had everyone available in the same match.

I can accept a lack of quality from the players coming in, but the lack of fight and commitment in recent weeks from midfield and defence has been so poor.
After the spurs game we were all singing the praises of the team for their fight and desire to win that game. We put an abysmal performance against Fulham, truly garbage and as bad as we have seen over the years. City are in a league of their own so anything would have been a bonus. Yep we need to be competing against them but it's going tb The derby is already written off for me, more chance of us pissing on the moon than getting 3 points at the pit.

hmm there are posts about him going back to Spain? You need winners to win trophies, especially when you havent won a bean for the best part of 30 years. Our lads bab their pants when they go a few hundred meters down the road to Anfield, you reckon they've got the stones for a final at Wembley? Big players stand up in the big games and do the business. He has a history of doing that. It doesn't revolve around a single player, it's a complete shift in mentality but the more players we have in the squad who have experience performing at that level and winning pots the better.

I dont subscribe to the him being out of form movement at the moment either. Scored a beauty against United. Was poor against Fulham but was anyone good? I would have liked to have seen him start against city as he moves us further up the pitch. Can fully understand why he didn't start as it was obvious we would hardly have the ball but we lost the game 3-1 anyway so why not have a go. He is limited defensively but to win games we need to score goals, we badly lacked in that department last season, this season we have been much more potent in attack, without much productivity from Richarlison who was our main threat last season. Not solely due to James but he's a big part of making us tick going forward imo.

We shall see. I hope he sticks around for a long time, he and Carlo attract more players of his ilk and we finally do something meaningful as, being ruthlessly honest, we've done sod all of note since 95 and have been mostly irrelevant. We really need to turn this page and get on with it now.

I wasn't quoting you specifically but there have been many posts pointing to how he shouldn't play, that means he is not good enough and by definition MUST REALLY SUCK since our squad is really poor due to injuries.

Anyways

No one is changing any minds here and the lad plays Saturday. We just have to wait and see how everything unfolds. I believe in him and the team and while they both sometimes disappoint me, I won't spend days and pages trying to bash them and convince others that they are bad.

But that's just me. Maybe I'm a glass half full kind of guy and think everton is a boss club and James is a wonderful footballer.

Agree, because he is a luxury and the players around him can’t compensate for that. If he had more quality around him, players that actually moved forwards, he would be able to pick out more passes. Instead we have a glorified crab. Still, his goals created and scored isn’t too bad at all. Such a pity though we didn’t build, it’s a lost opportunity, especially this season.
We can't compensate for him because the players around him are luxury players too. Stick James and Gilfi on the field at the same time, they would get dominated by a couple of hard working 17 year olds... hopefully as the weather improves we'll see the early season James back.

Yes each to their own and every opinion counts, stay the way you are, I’m mostly glass half full too, although Everton drain the glass down a bit now and again, of course we are a boss club, none better to me,and James is a wonderful player, now and again, I’m nearly with you !!

Why is there all this talk of having to jig the team around, and accommodate defensively, and having to compensate for James, one of the best playes around, but none of this talk of having to compensate when we stick gylfi in the team. It’s maddening. People should realise when they’ve got a good thing.

Thats what’s so annoying. Gylfi is getting to play number 10 in a 4231 with a balanced team around him in away games. James is getting shunted to the right wing in home games when we’re playing 433 and Siggurdson and Coleman are running Comedy Central. Then everyone starts moaning about James.

I’m sure he’d love to line up with Allan and Docuoure behind him, Richalrison and Iwobi out wide and DCL up top knowing that the back 4 are solid. He never gets that opportunity though yet Siggurdson gets to ply his best position all the time, and also gets to play deep as well effectively screwing James anytime he comes off the bench.

If James Rodriguez leaves this club before that Icelandic fraud I’ll never forgive Everton. We won’t give a world class player his favoured conditions but we bend over backwards for the worst premier league footballer I’ve seen in royal blue.
