Ignorant nobhead.

I talk with my fists where he's concerned.

There's three issues here with James for me:

1/ I see him as a creative player - but one who wont be able to fit regularly into the new system.
2/ I think he's been less than professional in the last 4 months with his comings and goings and social media output.
3/ I can see that he is being weaponised by the anti-Benitez crowd in order to undermine the manager. Not his fault, but that's unwanted.

He needs to move on. Best of luck to him when he does, as he's not a player I dislike. But he's not doing us or himself any favours by staying any longer.
Errm, you seem to dislike him.

And he will move on either in January or the end of the season.

The point is the club shouldn't move him out right now, pay another team £50-100k a week to play for them, when we can't get a replacement in ourselves.

Everyone accepts he is going either in Jan or next May, Dave. But it doesn't mean we shouldn't use him while he's here. And like I said, the option of moving him on (and pay another club for the pleasure) when we can't replace him is stupid.
The club are really upping the anti now mate. In the space of the last half hour I have read 3 different reports really giving it to James. I didn't even need to go looking for them either as all were linked to the Microsoft home browser page.

The worst is from some 2 bit sports journo called Matt Dawson on football fancast (think he may have links to the Athletic but you'll know better than me). Says James doesn't want to play for the club again (his evidence being the Leeds episode) and that we have a ready made replacement in Gordon and really bigging up the lads abilities. Now I'm a big promoter of playing young lads and have often moaned about the lack of opportunities he gets, but come on, really?

The other 2 pieces were the opinions of those well known Everton specialists Alan Hutton and Alex McLeish adding their pennyworth to the debate. Where were they dredged up from FFS. lol

it's really getting beyond a joke now. I'm starting to lose more and more respect for the club by the day.

Depends entirely on whether the manager believes he has the right attitude. If he thinks his inclusion will rankle other players more committed to the cause then he cant do that AND retain a corps esprit.
He gets along fine with the squad.

You seem to think we've suddenly got a load of Roy Keane's in the dressing room.

These lads nearly wilted against Huddersfield's second string. There's a long way to go yet.

But no, you don't let a player of James' quality go and leave yourselves short. If we'd got the Diaz deal done, fair enough, but we didn't.

haha

tbf, I won't blame the club for that. Not sure on Dawson but it's definitely easy to tell when it's a club brief, and that is on his wages. i.e. earlier this summer when it conveniently shot up to being £200k

I imagine those articles you've read are just using the general stuff that's already out there as a basis.

It needs to be accepted because there's absolutely nothing that we can do about it. But in no way does it have to be respected.

Rafael Benitez, like any other employee of Everton FC including all the players, has to earn my respect. It isn't given freely as I know for an absolute truth that your respect isn't given freely either Dave. If he does good things, which in fairness he has since he's been here, then I'll commend him for it. But if he does things I don't agree with, like refuse to play to James because of a 5 year old fallout, then I'm buggered if I'm giving the guy any resect for that.
That's fair enough. It's more important that James accepts and respects any managerial decision regarding his involvement.

If we're not getting results and Benitez refuses to turn to James then that will not make sense.

However, under any other circumstance if the manager chooses to manage his way and play those he trusts to carry out a 90 minute job, then he has the right to do that without criticism.
