Ability not in question but lack of fitness , game time and spouting nonsense on social media means he needs to be touched on and quickly. Another Marquee signing that plays every week and we are much better of as a club. Agree with Rafael on this

A lot of changed views from last season going on! A couple of points I would like to add, people who say he couldn't fit into this team/or more pertinently RB's team are wrong imho. As long as you have a midfield duo of 2 of Allan/Doucoure and Gbamin and you have the speed of Gray or Townsend there too then of course it would. That would probably help the team as two people would be tasked to handle James freeing up others. He would also be able to pick out the long balls to Gray/Digne to then hopefully wip it in the box. The second is while he clearly wants out to play in Europe at a top club I don't think he would go on strike if he didn't get that move so while he is still a blue let's not attack him too much.
The big part of the problem is there are only 1 ot 2 clubs willing to take the high financial risk on James due to his injury/fitness record.
As yet we only hear of one club who *maybe interested.
Humble pie on order.

Why is it humble pie mate? He hasn't openly come out and said "Bye suckers I'm out of this craphole" and then been forced to stay, he wants to go but he knew there was a chance it wouldn't work in this covid world. It's just keeping his options open.

His next contract won't be anywhere near what he'll get here.
Real couldn't get him out of door fast enough due to the exact same issues we're having, nevermind his bonkers salary.
Yet he still thinks he's Billy big bollocks, because he is followed by a load of sheep and half if asked wouldn't probably know he currently plays for.
But you know what? I'd absolutely love it if he proved me wrong. Somehow I doubt it.

If we want to force the issue to get him out we'll end up subsidising his wages to the tune of 70k to keep him on the same level (until he is a free agent next summer and he'll get the same again due to no transfer fee) and if we do that it would better to keep him imho even if it's just for the year to try and achieve our goals. We just have to use him smartly this time around. If he goes then we save in other ways. win/win.

Did it? Fleetingly and then subsiding once he leaves I'd guess.

What was the financial impact of it?
I don't know the exact financial impact of it and neither do you. I'd say a few extra shirts than otherwise were sold in SA and NA though, considering the number of people on both continents that support him wherever he goes.

It’s a myth that he didn’t work hard, fabricated by people who want cart horses and don’t like talent
I didn't say that he didn't work hard , I thought he did try to do his bit defensively even though I don't think that physically he is built to playing a high work rate, high tempo team .

I think that the speed and intensity of the Premiership was too much for him to play week after week and I do think that he did opt out of games and was facilitated in this by the manager.

I think he needs to be at a club which is not so dependent on him to play week after week . I think he would like to be part of a rotation policy.

All that said, I have not seen any rush from clubs in any league to sign him and certainly some of the biggest clubs could comfortably match the wages we pay .
