Literally noone thought that.

Then they need to stop moaning that we "only" beat Burnley 3-1 and lost a game away to Villa with DCL, Richarlison, Pickford, Coleman, Gbamin & Allan injured when Liverpool took a full strength side there minus Mane and got beat 7-2 last season.

Okay, I mean we scored most of our goals from open play last season when James was fit. That's because CA was far too reliant on him to be our creative fulcrum. As he couldn't stay fit, we often then had to resort to set-pieces.

Now, I too think we look fitter, and it's good to have more pace in attack. We do lack composure and quality though and that showed yesterday.

You mention set-pieces. Well, they're a big part of the game and we actually look properly abysmal at them now at both ends of the pitch. Whatever the faults of the last manager, we were good at set-pieces and being good at set-pieces is never a bad thing. Being reliant on them if one player isn't fit, is obviously a bad thing. But there's a big difference.

Nobody is thinking Benitez would have or should have us playing man City esque football. For one, Benitez wouldn't have a clue what to do or how to implement it and two, nobody actually expects that at all. But we need more than just energy because energy runs out, as we saw yesterday, and then quality takes over.

People have got the patience. We've all had to be patient, what does another year matter. But when you're bringing in the likes of Rondon, who isn't fit and is 32 and you're giving him a 2-year deal, and then binning off James, then questions should be asked.

I hate how the club is run. It's a shambles.

But we all knew this summer would be tough - you can't waste the sums of money Brands and Walsh have and not expect an inevitable summer of balancing the books.

Its done now - FFP changes next summer, big earners are off the books like Bolasie, Benard, Walcott, Besic with more to come end of this season including Rodriguez, Tosun, Siggurdsson, Delph, Kenny, USM Naming Rights Deal will be sorted come end of this year and BMD is on its way to being built whilst we have a manager who'll slowly rebuild foundations in the playing squad.

Things will look better in 12-18 months time people need to have patience and stop expecting things to miraculously change overnight or quick fixes.

Look at the positives rather than the negatives and get behind the manager!!

It really isn't over mate. We'll be selling Richarlison next year to fund any business.

Again, that's fine, but the pot has run out. There's a reason we've given the job to Benitez. We are so up to the eyeballs financially that it's going to take more than shifting big earners to help us.

Allan played and Gbamin, I hope he does get fit but what impact has he had since signing, Nada, so not really "missing" as we've never had him!

Mate Profit and Loss rules end this season for the new rules on wages/luxury tax.

Moshiri can rack up as much losses as he wants chasing the dream of europe so he deem fit providing the wage bill is in order which we are well on our way to doing - hence why your boy is an unwanted noose around our neck.

Lots of posters on here claiming Benitez has a personal issue over what happened in Madrid.

James claimed Benitez was saying he wasn’t fit when he was, then went out and played for Colombia and was fine ……

…… does that not remind people of last season. Too injured to play for us, or arsed enough to even hang around until the end of the season, but was fit enough to play for Colombia, until they said they didn’t want him.

While we are at it do we remember McCarthy who played for Ireland and couldn’t kick a ball in between due to the injuries! Were the managers lying about him as well?

I find it interesting that people are choosing to believe James when he has demonstrated on several occasions he does not give a stuff about the club or the fans.

Allan went off injured and we dont have anyone who can replace what he brings to the side same as Doucoure sadly.

You simply cant go away from home to a similiar strength opponent without your two best players (who are also our main two goal threats) our 1st choice keeper, only RB and lose one of our only two decent midfielders and expect to get 3 points certainly not when your own LB is chucking balls into his own net.

False. Everton's doctors suggested he sit out Colombia's qualifiers (which took place two weeks after the end of the premier league) - he did not miss the end of season by choice.

Colombia withdrew his call up after discussing with Everton's doctors - who thought he'd be ready for the Copa America, one month after the end of the league - because at that point they felt he'd of been inactive too long to impact and should just focus on getting healthy for Everton's preseason.

There was an official statement from Everton on it and everything. James got upset because he really wanted to play the Copa.

According to Pipe, James is traveling to UAE and the Toffees have already blessed the deal.

This is a big swing for Sierra - if true he will get a lot of credit, if we see pics of James training in blue tmrw...
