I didn't. I rated him for what he was and what he offered us. Never ever said he was perfect which he obviously wasn't.

We clearly miss a player like him now.

If anything people under rated him.

Don't think its logical to say people underrated him mate considering half the fanbase saw him as the new Ronaldo. What we need is a player that Deulofeu could be on his day, but a more consistent player. That's why I hope that these Januzaj rumours aren't true because he'll be exactly the same. Considering we've got pretty much no wide players coming through the academy that are going to be good enough we really need to invest in a class one, especially if Mirallas goes.

Half the fan base saw him as the new Ronaldo? Quite the statement mate.

He was a 19/20 kid moving to a new country for his first ever taste of top flight football.

I find it weird people expected more than what we got out of him to honest.

Would be great if we could get him back, especially if Mirallas is likely to leave soon. Seeing others play in that position this season makes it clear to me how good he is.

Agree with ijjy. He gave us something different, and while he is far from perfect he scared teams and drew defenders out. He was 19 when he came and had a good first season in arguably the best - but definitely the most rigorous - league in the world. He frustrated at times but after a year the progress he'd made was brilliant. Think of the amount of times Ronaldo does loads of stepovers and then drills in a cross... a lot of them do get cleared, but no one would question his end product.

I agree that we do need a playmaker more than we would need Del, but to say he has no end product seems rather naive given how much he's taken the pace and ferocity he picked up by playing in the Prem last year to Sevilla, where he has done well considering limited chances. He'd have improved our squad this season no doubt.

Hopefully we can get Schurlle in. Roberto Firmino would probably be the ideal signing - exactly what we need - but wishful thinking,

Not a jot mate.

No i think it was pretty much vastly overrated. I think mostly because people expected him to be ronaldo esque, when in the end he wasn't anything like that but people (not saying you mate!) refused to believe he wasn't this superstart.

In the end he was nice to have but he only had about four decent games for us. Unfortunately for him when he DID appear to pick up form he got injured and then after that he was pretty dismal.

After the injury he constantly ran into players, lost the ball, sometimes was so lazy that he wouldn't control the ball and it'd roll out for a throw in. And his final ball was usually pretty dross.

We miss someone like him for width and pace, but not exactly him. I don't think he'll ever be messi or ronaldo class but if he works as hard as the talent he has deserves he could become someone like robben, which is not a bad feat at all.

I'd have him back on loan, maybe next season but i wouldn't want us splashing loads on him. There are better players at the moment that'd be better for us.

Lol at Arjen Robben being thrown in there as a not bad feat at all.

Bit of an exaggeration but I think people expected too much of him and what he did here was what you'd expect a 19/20 year old to do. However we need a more ready made player, we don't have the money to buy from top leagues so he needs to take more risks in the transfer window imo, like Koeman and Southampton.

Now that I can all agree with.

robben isn't on the level of ronaldo or messi is he, so i wasn't dismissing him as a bad player.

Lolz

Yeah it was fair enough really. Never going to be on a par with two of the best players of all time, but if his talent matches his hard work he could perhaps make the level of one of the best players in world football for the last decade, when you were complaining about him being vastly overrated.
