Repeatedly mentioned my admiration for him and would have him here in a heartbeat, although I think Swansea may be very reluctant to sell.

Especially when you consider that he's only recently signed a new contract and the dire straights there in - would be almost suicidal on their behalf.

Still, there's a strong chance they'll be relegated come the end of May, so while gutless it may be best to sell him when the value high.

And they've already shown that they are willing to offload their better players if the value is price... so a cheeky, probing bid wouldn't go amiss.
 
Just to point out.

People saying let's buy Virgil for 50 million. Why? He is good yes but....

Why aren't we buying that level of player at 12 million instead and scouting them?

Or better yet buying them at the price celtic paid?

Why do we have to just buy the latest in form defender for over the odds? Virgil has been signed twice before, so find the next one.

Because it's not as simple as that mate, we paid 12m for Mori an argie international who looks woeful. We bought kroldrup who was hugely touted and was an utter flop who couldn't adapt to the league.

For every gueye there's gonna be 2-3 of those type or more.

Proper scouting is about deciding where and who to spend big on.

And we just hired someone who's job is specifically to do just that, scout players. So is it in the realms of impossibility to be signing these types of players at the 12 million marks? Potential without stepping up? For that 50 million touted we should be paying we could sign 4 celtic Van dykes so if only one achieves the potential then they automatically make out money back straight away if you look at it from a business perspective.

Granted I am not a scout and haven't got a list of players ready to recommend, but Walsh should be doing just that, it's his job. If we go out spending 50 million on a player now then essentially, what is Walsh actually doing?

Well you can buy a lukaku for 28m, or a niaase, Valencia and Kone for 28m

You buy VVD you get a pro en commodity in this league with minimal risk of failiure, it's why teams with loads of money do it mate, perfect world you do both ideas, but you g players and proven quality

Think we will see a blend, personally. Serious wedge on ready made, established players, and Gana type "punts", for want of a better word.

Answer on what Walsh would be doing is simple mate, ensuring the team is as competitive as possible, and bringing on players for all needs of the club, present and future.
 
There is business to be done before the window. Sign tom davies to a better, longer deal, looks like there may be a decent player in there. Time we give Davies and Holgate the positions of Cleverley and oviedo/Jagielka soon. Coupled with Scheiderlein moving the ageing barry out and hopefully a good keeper and striker in the summer, we coukd start looking brighter on paper.
