I don't think there's a huge amount of value there to be honest. Some decent players, but not many who you would back to overperform based on the outlay needed to get them.

Depends on how much their valuations were to drop by if their teams were relegated...

...i dont see any of those players being 'overpriced' in my head...based upon what I think they could be available for.

Agree dont think we could get a decent price quattara\ lavia would still cost alot. Would love us to try for johnson but again worried what the price would be.

We need to get players like that before they end up in the PL. We just can't afford most of the PL talents.

Relegated and the values drop...

Also depends on how many bidders their are of course.

I think it makes sense in some cases to sign these types who have experience in ths league but can still improve.

Worth for the club to ask would be great options for us

I don't think they'd drop substantially in most cases. Ouattara and Danilo were only signed in January so you'd imagine the possibility of going down was factored into their clubs' thinking when signing them. They're pretty much all one step too far along the path to be much value. We were linked with Johnson last year for £20mish, he's now got 10 goals at PL level and a couple of international goals, you're looking at minimum £35m now, and if for some reason it was substantially less than that we'd be way down the pecking order because he'd represent good value for better sides than us.

Doesn't really happen like that anymore when they're young. Look at some of the fees for Championship talents. You listed the Sheff Utd kid before at £25m.

Plus we don't have a warchest if anything.

If relegated...total guesstimates:

GK: Bazunu £15-20mil

MF: Lavia £30-35mil / Billing £15-20mil / Danilo £20-25mil / Paqueta £30-35mil

WF: Bowen £30-35mil / Quattara £25-30mil / Johnson £35-40mil

CF: Scamacca £25-30mil

I might be way off but perhaps the 'best' young players currently in the championship like Ndiaye (Pushing for promotion), Joao Pedro (returning from injury) and Scott (moving this summer)...

...are all at clubs following championship budgets. While relegated clubs will need to sell to follow the same budgets.

What budget do you think Everton have for 23/24 season.

I think some of those estimates are a little low but even at those prices I just don't see much value. They're decent players but not the sort who are going to have an enormous impact, and most of them are unlikely to significantly improve in value in future. Paying £35m for half decent PL players in their mid 20s is absolutely not the way for us to turn our fortunes around.

If we continue with 3 in midfield, thats currently Gana, Onana and Garner we'd have under contract...so anyone coming in gets alot of game time.

If we did offer the £25mil for Ndiaye then I believe thats also what Bristol City are asking...Dyche of course does seem to like recruiting from the championship too.

Id expect a young player to be attracted by the game time and (if we keep him) would probably be keen on playing alongside Onana as well.

According to the media we did...and £25mil for Ndiaye.

Not saying its true....but what else do we have to go on?

I would HOPE a young player would want game time.

I wouldn't expect it, not anymore.

We have sold two players for around 70m since January and will probably get some more from the sale of Holgate(if he is sold) and Gomes and we may see others leave as well.

We will definitely have a transfer budget.

However, since the arrival of Sean Dyche and the departure of the entire previous management I expect targets will have changed as well.

Contracts expiring

2023 - 9 Players
Mina
Lonergan
Begovic
Coleman
Townsend
Vinagre
Davies
Coady
Doucoure

2024 - 8 Players
Iwobi
Gray
Gana
Simms
Alli
Gomes
Gbamin
Nkounkou

Quite an incredible amount of players out of contract over the next 2 seasons.

I think were probably £30-35mil down on FFP last year and this year after shifting out high wages + selling Gordon + Kean I expect we would be a little better (with their sales going 100% on the balance sheet of course while signings are spread over contracts)

Also, ive quoted my post showing 17 players will be out of contract this and next summer...so in theory we'd see a lot of wages open up.

Its an impossible question to answer but at a total guess, I would say it 'should' be circa £35-40mil transfer budget before factoring in any players leaving / sales. It could as well be zero...which would be concerning.

Next summer imo is where we should capitalise on having so many players off our books, being positive on FFP and seeing sponsorships come in for the stadium.

As with everyone im sure, Id hope that Maupay, Holgate and the fringe players are moved on for fees....to add to the pot.

Also, if a major bid came in for Onana (£70mil+) or Pickford (£50mil+) id expect we sell.

For me, we need to focus on 3 signings this summer CM, RW, CF.

Well let's say you're right and it's ~£40m before any sale (we've tried for years to sell these plays, can't see it happening).

Your relegated list gets us like 1, maybe 2 people in that budget. And they're all risky youngsters.

If we sold Pickford and replaced with e.g Bazunu and Johnson for the same fee....there could be 50%+ upside.

If we could hold onto Onana we'd still need to bring in another midfielder. We wouldnt make money on Billing but its a sensible low cost signing.

i do see alot of upside in Lavia and Danilo while someone like a Bowen/Paqueta should have an immediate impact.

Theres quite a range there as well as players already in the championsip...the Chelsea and City u21s etc...

Im sure we'll see some great players linked like last summer (Hojlund?)and am hopeful we could pick out a couple to add to the squad.

The issue is how much we 'need' to spend on incoming players.

If we did sell Holgate, Maupay and Gomes I would expect us to generate £20-25mil + small amounts for Nkounkou etc

Added to a possible £35-40mil budget?

That probably brings in 2 good young players without a major sale.

Thats the issue.

A centre forward wont come cheap either. That could be £35-40mil which might be why weve been linked to Beto at a lower fee.

I do think if we can work some magic and bring in 3 new young players with upside then we'll see big improvements next season.
