Hi

I'm a TV producer making a documentary about Neville Southall. We're going to be looking at a few key moments in Southall's career, including his infamous goal post sit down in the 1990/91 Division One season opener against Leeds United.
I'm looking for a fan called Jimmy Sanders who confronted Southall and told him to 'Get up and wear your Everton shirt with pride'. Jimmy was living on Park Lane, Netherton, back when it happened in 1990.
Does anybody know if he's still around? It would be great to get an interview with him for the documentary.

I heard he joined the US army, progressed through the ranks quite quickly to Colonel before early retirement, then he apparently bought a fried chicken franchise with his retirement money. No idea what became of him after that.
 
Luckily enough, we happen to have a guy on the forum whose area of expertise is in tracing people (until the non molestation orders are activated).

Given the other responses I genuinely can't tell if this is an inside joke or not ? if @Bungle really does have a way of tracking this guy down that would be awesome! Really want to get this guy's first hand account as a fan who saw this and stood up to do something about it
 

I was at the game - 3-0 to newly promoted Leeds at H-T - Southall clearly had nothing to add to any HT discussion - so just sat leaning on a post at the Park End. Don't remember any fan remonstrating with him. Can't ever say Neville didn't wear our shirt with pride - ever. Seem to recall we pulled 2 back and lost 3-2.

I remember it well. Nev so fed up he didn't leave the pitch at HT. Still we weren't as bad as this mob

yeah i remember it well I also don't remember a fan confronting him, seems a strange thing to say to one of our greatest ever players
