Depends what you think abuse is, though, doesn't it?

"F'ing catch it" or "stop bottling tackles you shthouse" isn't abuse in my book, whereas calling one of your players a tvvat as soon as he steps on the pitch is.

Calling somebody a shithouse is abuse. Saying 'f'ing catch it' isn't.

Not the end of the world, though, is it?

If fans have a problem with someone shouting that at a player who isn't putting the effort in, say, then they need to get a grip. The player won't hear it anyway in most circumstances.

Not gunna lie I was giving Robles pyar abuse at Arsenal away in the cup last year when he refused to catch the ball

Don't rate the lad.

It's not the same as Kone where people are just saying he's crap without giving him a chance. This lad had played several full 90 minute games and hasn't looked at all convincing, especially against good teams. His awareness is rubbish, he doesn't command the box well enough and his decision-making can be downright idiotic.

I think we need another goalkeeper in because I would not at all feel comfortable playing this bloke in Europa League and the Cups, he's going to cost us big time with his doziness. It's not like he's a kid either who's learning, the bloke is 24. Still young for a goalie I know but he should still know the bloody basics by that age.

...you look at Robles and he's got all the physical ammunition you need for a top modern day keeper, his technique isn't so good and its understandable that folk have little confidence in him. I'm prepared to stick with him in the hope he eventually comes good, though it is a concern that he will be in the firing line in cup competitions this season.

Truth is that in terms of the relative quality of the understudies in every position, the gap between the ability of the two keepers at Everton is massive and wouldn't be countenanced in any other position. To say you can't expect to have good keepers on the bench is absolute nonsense. Spurs have just bought Vorm and I think they still have Friedel as cover as well. If Howard gets injured we're f****d.

Too true, we could be up the swanee. Stated months and months ago when there was talk of players that we needed a goalie.

He is what he is, not the best and dodgy at crosses but he never cost us the FA cup last season and ironic cheering when he catches the ball from some of our 'fans' won't do the lads confidence much good will it? Love the way our fans always need to have a scapegoat, definite signs of it being between McGeady and Robles next season depending on who gets more game time.

what if they're trying their hardest but they're just not good enough?

Then they don't deserve abuse in the slightest.

You can't expect people not to groan when someone misplaces a 10 yard pass or punches a ball everyone on here could catch, though.
