Joel Robles

Personally I do think Pickford is the real deal and think if he hadn't got injured we may have been in for him in January. Joel has been a revelation and currently deserves the jersey at least until the end of the season. When koeman came in he said he likes to have three senior keepers so still think there will be one incoming in the summer- it's down to Joel to show whether we are looking for a number one or an understudy.
Agree on Pickford. He makes truly exceptional saves that most goalkeepers aren't capable of.

Pickford has played less than 20 games for Sunderland and he's the real deal :coffee:

Personal opinion mate of what I have seen from him... not just my opinion either with lots of pundits having talked the boy up. People were talking about Pickford potential two years ago and from what I have seen so far he seems to be realising that potential.

Gets plenty of practice, so you want a keeper in a relegation team at a high price ?
Robles was actually relegated not too long ago, so I wouldn't hold that against Pickford.

It all depends on what happens between now and the end of the season. If Robles carries on in the same form he's shown since coming into the side, I'd be more than happy to see him remain no.1 long-term.

I'd hold on before blowing big bucks on Pickford. I saw a lot of him when he was on loan at Bradford City a couple of years ago and he was good for league one but he had the odd howler in him. Great distribution.

I appreciate he is very young for a goalie.

Happens nearly every season with young players

You obviously don't rate the lad and think he is a flash in the pan and fair enough you are right for every dele Allie there are probably 10 Freddie Sears. I happen to believe he is in the former category based on what I have seen but feel free to vault me in two years if he is playing in the championship or below.

Pickford is English so of course he is getting lots of pundits talking about him. Yeah decent keeper with great prospects, but that is basically what Joel is.
It's a bit misleading when you are in a side that is awful and you have too much to do, if we were as bad as Sunderland I'm sure Joel would be having all kinds of shots aimed at our goal for him to make spectacular saves.
