Joel Robles

Keeping him in the side is 100% the right thing to do. He's got everything this guy.

In a way Stekelenburg's injury could have saved us a few quid in the transfer market.

More than happy with robles.

I'm happy enough with the big man, a massive improvement on Howard and doesn't have the regular faux pas that the Stek has in him.

Ron having confidence in him seems to have given him a massive boost and he's doing the biz for us at the moment and has certainly played his part in our present unbeaten run.

That save the other day was top-notch. Yes he still has the occasional hiccup but almost every goalkeeper does, it's about making big saves at crucial points in games and he's doing plenty of that at the moment. Definitely seems Koeman has come round to him.

There is no doubt that a continued run in the side has improved his confidence - the defence have a better idea what he can do and to be fair he lets them know when he's coming out and it's his ball - catches a lot more than in the past when he seemed to punch or parry crosses. May be different styles but I thought most English keepers look to catch and hold the ball where many European keepers are coached and happy to punch or fist it away. He seems to do less of the latter in recent games.

I was unconvinced in his early days, was it BATE when we played the kids and he had a mare? May have influenced my thinking - but no doubt he got a raw deal when Howard got recalled when he'd done well - similarly when Fulhams former reserve keeper & current Dutch international got the nod to start this year. Hard to knock him at all since he has got the gloves - some great saves at important times - I love his celebrations when we score too. Got a gangly look about him, similar to Courtois & De Gea which makes him look award - but when you're that tall always going to be the case. He's got his chance now and hope he goes on to prove we don't need to replace. In his hands and good luck to the lad.

Robles was actually relegated not too long ago, so I wouldn't hold that against Pickford.

It all depends on what happens between now and the end of the season. If Robles carries on in the same form he's shown since coming into the side, I'd be more than happy to see him remain no.1 long-term.
Robles was a young no 2 in a Wigan side he played in the final which won!
Pickford is a young promising keeper who will demand high money !

I don't really disagree with anything you say about Robles. He's been fantastic.

No idea how much Pickford would cost, or if Koeman will even be in the market for another goalkeeper now. I just think he's shown real quality so far.

- Stunning save from Scott Dann header at 0-0 against Palace.

- Save from Arter which would have made it 3-3 and turned the game on its head.

- World class save at 0-0 from Gestede with 5 minutes to go.

Won us more points at crucial stages of matches in one month than Howard did in a decade. The big feller.

I said in another post......Joel is becoming almost Nevillesque with these point winning saves.

Who will ever forget the save at the Lane which broke Spurs hearts and all but handed us the Title in '85.

Personally, I think we are witnessing an Everton legend in the making.
