I dropped a friend flying from JLA on Speke Hall Avenue as they said that there was a charge to drop off at the airport - I haven't been to JLA for years so wasn't aware of this. I stopped, they got out and I drove off, must have been stationary for about 5 seconds only.

Today I received a 'charge notice' from a private comapny Vehicle Control Services Limited (VCS), for £60 if I pay now or £100 after 14 days.

I wasn't sure if this was a scam as I was under the impression that highways full under local government and the police.

Anyone got any insight into this, is it legit?

There are enough signs around warning of the charges. There is a free car park (40 mins) for drop off/pick up. About 4-5 mins walk to terminal

It’s real mate.

The moment you drive into the dropping off area, you incur a charge - think it’s 4 quid for five mins.

As @TommyDavo says there’s signs everywhere.

This is why people drop off, outside of the airport.

Aye I’ve been caught by it myself.

Told them they don’t have jurisdiction to do this and to do one. There’s stuff online that you can follow to contest it.

I might type this to make you go to jail.

I'd just tell them to koff tbh. They probably won't follow up on it.

Stopping on a double red means you are screwed. At East Midlands airport even if someone alights while you are in the petrol station filling up you get done. It’s a moneymaking scam but unfortunately it’s legal…..

Posted this in the minor fumes thread. There's 40 minutes free parking at Liverpool Airport if you turn right at the roundabout just before the terminal - About 500 yards down behind the car rental return.

This rat, link below, shouldn't be profiting from public highways such as Speke Hall Ave. Fair enough if I fell fould of council rules and need to pay them but it doesn't sit right that a private firm can profiteer from public land.

….I just got back from a fortnight in the Canary Islands, left my car at the JLA Meet & Greet & it cost less than your £60 drop off.
