John Stones transfer saga

Its 22.8m Net Friend, I did the math.

Thinking about it, I'm missing:

Galloway, dunno how much he cost but I doubt we paid the lot upfront.
Martinez's Wigan compo, like 2 mil I beleive.
Loan fees for various players, nominal, wouldn't be over a few mil.

Anyway, even if it is 22.8 mil. That's 11.4 for each season he's been here. The prize money from 12/13 and 13/14 and TV money should more than pay for that. If anything we've been short-changed. My point is that it's not money been given to the manager by the board.

Well what is it then?

Forgive me, I should have clarified.

The money is purely from player sales, prize money and TV deals. Not money from the boards own pockets.

So how far back shall we go with this?

Last year? Lescott? ..Rooney? Dacourt?. Keown? ...Lineker?...Ball?.....Lawton??

Where's the start point on this? And are all previous owners/boards being held to the same standard?

I wonder what the premium is on John Stones simply because he is English?
If he were of a different nationality, what would his value be ?
I think he is so highly regarded because his style is more continental than English, but if he were not English I think you could probably knock at least 15m of his worth.

15m? Not a chance.

Some English players have commanded an inflated fee but so have many foreigners. DAvid Luiz for one. But also Lovren, Sakho, Aqualaini, Balotelli, Markovic etc.

John Stones is already one of the best Centre Backs on the planet. £25m is a joke.

God I cant wait for the window to close so I can rub it in my smug Chelsea supporting [Poor language removed] friends faces who are convinced they're getting him this summer. Thoroughly enjoying the club giving them the finger currently.

As much as I like John Stones and I do believe he can grow into a fine player in time, but he is a long way off being at the level you think he is.

He is still only a young lad, learning his trade, he makes mistakes and will continue to do so, but as he gets older the mistakes will get fewer.

As yet he is not an international regular and in games we all have seen the mistakes that he sometimes makes.
We really need to give this lad a chance without putting silly levels of expectations on his shoulders.

Well, I was doing the last 2 seasons like the post I originally replied to.
