John Stones transfer saga

My Apologies. Thankyou for pointing out a fault rather than answering the question. Still as my point said, Moyes Transfers filled me with confidence.

Per Koldrup.

In all seriousness mate, I think you're looking back with blue tinted glasses, Martienz has signed some great players as well and Moyes signed some guff. No-one has a 100% transfer record and I wouldn't say his dealings were always confidence filling

Love the last bit about him working for Chelsea, sorry I mean reporting on Chelsea

Simon Johnson is just another example of a sh**house reporter, totally obsessed like the rest of the London-centric media in thinking that the be all and end all of the Earth is that cesspit that we call the capital.

He was on talksport yesterday on Goldstein and Cundy (who I don't mind, as far as that station goes) before Noel Gallagher (who coincidently talks more sense than most pundits about - for anyone who didn't hear it he was asked by someone on twitter which current Prem player he'd like to have at City, and he said Stones immediately).

Anyway, back to Johnson. He claimed that Stones' price won't go up next year anyway - so Everton might as well sell him for £30mil now. Honestly it's unbelievable. I've never known the media to more actively try and sell a young talent like this. Even with Sterling it was different as the player himself went and did that interview.

Disgraceful and sums up the current nature of the press/media in the UK. Makes me feel ashamed to be a part of it, but i'm not heading down to that sh**hole London any time soon!

I think Chelsea initially leaked the offer.

Mourinho with his "I'm not talking about other teams and their players" yet saying absolutely everything he wanted to say about Stones. Then having Cahill and his other players talk to the media about how great Chelsea is, how great John is and how great John could be if he signed for Chelsea.

This then backfired for a couple of reasons. First, we can no longer buy out Stones' sell on fee from Barnsley. However slim a chance of it happening before was, it's impossible now. That means we're definitely going to want more to make up for the X% that we'll have to give to Burnley.

Secondly, we have now taken this discussion and by not completely ruling any chance of him leaving out, allowed City and United to enter a possible bidding war, driving his price up even more.

Notice how Chelsea didn't say anything about the second bid. They want to keep it quiet now because they know it's in their best interest to do so. We're the ones who "announced" that we have rejected a second bid from Chelsea, essentially saying "look, Chelsea are offering £26m for Stones, anyone care to beat that?"

He may not necessarily be for sale but we're making sure we'll get the best price possible if he does go.

The assumption you are making is that Everton want to sell and are angling for the best price.
I think you are wrong in that assumption. I think Everton want to keep the player and as long as John Stones is happy to stay Chelsea are absolutely powerless.

I think the situation is as so:

We don't want to sell this summer, but if someone pays silly money we will. Hopefully, we don't even consider anything under £40mil, though I do have a snake horrible feeling that £35mil late in the window plus add ons may be enough. I hope i'm way off the mark.

He'll go next summer even if he stays this year. But we could easily demand £40/50mil then as I think he'll probably be England's shining light in the Euros.

Stones is happy here, and won't push for a move. All the 'Stones is interested in a move' stories are bull. Of course he'd probably like to play at Chelsea, or City or Utd or bloody Real Madrid. But, he's happy at Everton, and if we refuse to sell him he won't kick up a fuss.

I agree mate that station is a disgrace and seems to have an agenda against EFC

I know I shouldn't listen some times especially to Durham but some of the shows are great

Makes me laugh how when sterling was going they got every ex lfc player/manager on to tell the world he would be better off staying at lfc

I don't listen. 24/7 but I haven't heard one ex EFC player on the station sticking up for our corner

I've heard 3/4 ex Chelsea players and more LFC players/fans on talking about stones like graham beecroft alvin Martin and Steve Nicol FFS

Noel Gallagher was great last night said Micky Quinn called sterling a snake and Noel said this is a guy who got a vanilla ice jingle. Lol

Gutted I missed this ffs.

I'm not assuming that at all.

We don't want to sell. It would be wise, however, to ensure that if Stones does decide to go, and our hand is forced, that we get as much as possible for him. We're doing exactly that. We're covering all bases here.

Think we should convince him to stay on Sunday when a few chorus's of there's only one John stones rings around the ground.
