Yeah good point, don't get me wrong I think Pickford is ideal. That's true but he'd be nothing more than a stop-gap. 32 next April.

Isn't the new era upon us? Aren't the club supposed to have moved on from shopping at Aldi now?Feel free to name me someone we could get in that spectrum with stats better than Pickford. No point naming names with nothing to justify them.

That's what I heard.
Shots at goal are shots at goal. Doesn't matter what defence that's there: the defence has failed at that stage because the GK is having to make the stop.Bear in mind that De Gea and Courtois would be having a higher % of shots from target and in general lower % chance of scoring opportunities against them due to having a far better quality of defence ahead of them.
There are many ways to skew the numbers.
he is a small goalkeeper, i don't like small keepers, they are not superior in aerial duels
Not true. We've all been at games when one team is restricted to long range pot shots that the keeper should save 99.9% of the time. They all go on the stats. Stats can only tell us so much, otherwise the RS moneyball approach would've won them the league by now.Shots at goal are shots at goal. That's a fair point. He was out after Christmas and they shipped a lot of goals. No because Pickford has not played in all games.
It's crude, but its all we have besides perception. Not true. We've all been at games when one team is restricted to long range pot shots that the keeper should save 99.9% of the time. Are you kidding? Of course it matters, if a striker is pushed out wide but still gets a shot off it is far easier to save than the shot that comes from having an utter tosh defence that the striker has just bypassed and is glaring through on goal. Remember you wanted to make this a more in depth analysis.Shots at goal are shots at goal. This is true in almost all professions. That's why we recruit experts to view the stats and try to put them in the appropriate context when recruiting new players. I'm not opposed to stats but I do think there is a risk of them becoming a new religion! It's crude, but its all we have besides perception.

Lol. How can you state a shot coming in from an angle is obviously going to be any easier to save than a shot off a player clean through? How many times do you see the latter bottled by the attacker or easily saved by the GK?Are you kidding? Is he the future England number 1?So buying the potential future England number one for close to 20 million is 'shopping from Aldi'?
