I get the feeling there's a lot of important context that nobody on here knows about. Could be wrong.

I'm far more bothered about how we have looked after Gibson than Baxter.

Me too to be honest, on both points. Never mind the drink driving which was a disgrace, the fact we gave him a new contract with his injury record is just bizarre.

I agree. But there's a few reasons people are concerned and I don't blame them. We're a huge football club who should be winning things, not a charity.

to clarify...I'm not saying raising a question. I'm saying some are genuinely outraged. That's over the top.

I sincerely doubt he's on 5k a week. That's probably above the average for the U23's at any rate (Taking out Niasse). I can't see him being on any more than the average none-standout first year pro. It's not like he comes into this from a position of strength.

Personally, I haven't got a clue about the circumstances that have brought him back but I imagine there's some perfectly reasonable logic behind it and hopefully some good comes of it for the lad and the club. Stranger things have happened.

so that money would have gone to the average Briton instead? If it's that other don't get the same chances, I'd be more upset that they don't, rather than that he does.

But that's just me.
I am more upset about that. I'm not interested in a race to the bottom. But this thread is entitled "Jose Baxter" not general addiction. Recovery (if he indeed is an addict and not just a recreational user, which is a fairly large assumption imo) starts with self-recognition that there is a problem. Maybe that has happened, maybe not. Either way, I can't understand what it's got to do with EFC and I am more concerned about the effect his presence will have on the young players at the club.

might give them a high

That's a weirdly inconsistent position. Surely, based on your prior arguments, addiction is an involuntary thing and all addicts connected with the club should be supported?

Can't see him being on a huge amount. If he's been helping with EITC then who knows? He might have proven that he's gotten over that bad patch.

It just seems that everyone is kicking off over it when the chances are they have no idea about the situation.

Some comments on this thread are make me embarrassed to be an Evertonian
He's NOT on £5K a week; he's not Public Enemy Number One; he is a talented footballer; this is a laudable and constructive move made by a proper, decent football club.
.
If this was true then the argument would be somewhat different but, by premier league standards, it is patently false.
