Well the designer is a friend of mine and I think he's done a good job, but then we all can't have a designers eye ;)

What you have offered is lay person's opinion. From a design standpoint it isn't laughable.

I have spoken to the designer and he didn't do it because of copyright, he just did it. He can also see why people may get bent out of shape. The fact is though people are talking about it, which means he did his job.

No disrespect but I doubt many people are talking about a simple banner with some text on - which has a very similar cut out player thing going on as TW does.

No, no and no. Designers do not make adverts to be purposely bad to get people talking about them. If I paid a designer who made a header which got alot of criticism, I wouldn't turn around and say well done.

But while I see what your saying, your argument is all wrong. No one would want their website to be talked about in a bad context, no matter how much publicity it caused. I could easily put a picture of a pig pile of [Poor language removed] as my header, hey it wont look good... but people will talk about it and remember it.... right?

What your saying is what PlaysStation 2 got right with them old vulture adverts, their strangeness got people talking about it. That's good publicity, people were not talking about "them crap adverts" but rather remembering them for just being strange.

Also, I had rotating players in the header on prior websites long before TW and can prove it ;). It's not a new, nor unique invention, infact, hundreds of thousands of vBulletin users have downloaded and installed a mod that makes it possible.

A designers eye Ghost is only as good as those viewing his work deems it to be, it is purely a subjective matter. If you think something looks good the next guy may think it is [Poor language removed], both of you would be wrong until a body of opinion had been formed and only a substantive majority either way could settle the matter, hence a lot of poor designers get away with marginal work when they should be seeking the elusive majority.
 

If Danny had made that and asked me, I would have said the same, this is NOT an attempt to belittle or have a go at TW because of the recent past, believe or not I'm not THAT pathetic.

I think its unoriginal, unispiring and plain ugly.
 
Like I say, its all a matter of opinion. I don't think its groundbreaking, nor do I think its as bad as you think it is. Your saying though that the colours, the motifs, the image of the roundhouse, are all ugly? :)
 
As I said, I think its so unoriginal.. its uninspiring and the yellow mixed in there is just wrong.

Ugly.
 

but like Ghost, its not like TW has left its mark, only me saying how shitty it looks.
 
And I like it. I think its original and nice.

But then its all about opinions, let move on from TW.
