It's like some bizarre soap opera. I guess that this is not strictly true, but that it stems from the fact that the chairman is uneasy now with the highly-strung Keegan as manager.

Newcastle - is there anything worse? they dont have a controlling owner as such - they have lots of money - perfect scenario - yet they still mess it up!! There fans think they should be challenging for the top 4 every season, there like liverpool fans saying "we are going to win the league" arghghgh

Keegan isnt that bad for nwecastle, and has barely had time to make transfers or anything - so why get rid of him?

Even if its not immenint, all doesnt bode well and there are clearly big problems, the fact they had to hold a high leveled summit i think shows this. i think it may be a case of to many cheifs and not enough indians over there!

They're stuck in the old days at Newcastle. The fans see the big gates and the passion and believe that this can translate to the team. The problem is that in this day and age, an unfashionable team situated in such a backwater will not be able to attract the big names from home and abroad. Imagine you're a foreign player and faced with a move to England. You'll look at London first and then Manchester and finally Liverpool and Birmingham as attractive destinations. You're hardly going to be breaking your back to move to un-cosmopolitan Newcastle, which is miles from a decent world-class city (Edinburgh would be the nearest). Imagine what the wife would say!

I was in Newcastle a couple of weeks ago,and after a couple of pints suprise suprise footy came up,and they relly are deluded they believe because the gates are always around 50,000 every player wants to play for them,I tried pointing out their abismal record of changing managers, the fact as Neb said no disrespect but who if they had a choice would live there and yes apart from when its football they are nice people.even tried pointing out that their gate money is not enough to pay the wages and this big Geordie stated it was till Micheal Owen grabbed it all:lol:they belive only Man utd and Chelsea our as big as them??? when I left the pub I didnt know if I was pissed or shell shocked:lol:The only two thing we agreed on was our hatred of Liverpool and Barton is a waste of space they also hope we buy Smith and think they are in with a good chance of getting Arteta:o

I can see him and his gorgeous TV presenter girlfriend house hunting in South Shields. They're probably up there now doing the famous Newcastle scene with its vibrant cafe culture and world-class shopping (rivals Beverly Hills, don't you know).
