Well of course they have spent more money than us, they have earned it via there success, you win things and do well, you get money, thats just the way it is, if your not successful then you won't get as much money. I am just disgusted and disappointed with how we played, We were so negative, like we didn't want to win and were content with a point, right from the off.
It was more clear and evident in the second half when we basically were camped in our own 18 yard area and just hoofed it up to AJ. I realise it was their duty to break us down but your going away to your local rivals, you expect at least some attacking threat. The only problem they were posed yesterday was due to their own defensive cock-up to let AJ in. And even then there wasn't anyone sprinting from midfield to back him up, and give him another option, support the attack a little.
They had their chances yesterday, what worries me is that if one of them had gone in, which there was always a threat that it would, we would have been totally knackered as we had no attack at all, a change in tactics would have meant a complete gameplan change by DM.
We are a smaller club, of course we are, fanbase, money, stadium, success, history, in whatever terms you want to put it, yes we are a smaller club, but we are slowly but surely improving, i just feel yesterday was a little disappointing. I could have lived with Moyes going to their place, playing a straight 4-4-2 or whatever, just something with a little bit of a potent attacking threat, and us losing, because we would have at least tried, rather than just going and playing 10-0-1. They may have always called us "smaller" or whatever it is they called us, but yesterday we went and confirmed it for them.
Don't get me wrong i am overjoyed that we have took 4 points off them this season, and from a general point of view, not many other teams in the league will manage that, but in my opinion, only teams like Watford, Sheffield United, Charlton etc will go to the top four and do what we did yesterday, away from home especially. But you don't find mid-table sides like us doing that, Boro,Newcastle,Man City heck even West Ham went there and put up a decent attack. And in a Merseyside Derby, the rules go out the window, but i would never ever have expected Moyes to do what he did.
Before the game i would have loved a point, but not at the cost of sacrificing our self-respect, if you like.
Sorry, but I rest my case.
110% nobhead. Especially "we are a smaller club in every way" get some self-respect you horrible red wastrel. Sorry if this seems out of context to newer members I'll be happy to explain the story...
