I think, like myself, all Irish Evertonians hold Sheeds in the highest regard. Met him at an Irish Toffees/Goodison Blues event in the Red Cow Hotel years ago with HK and a few others. Proper gentleman.

I was over at that match!! If it were to happen today TV would keep showing it over and over.

So many fans used to whinge about Sheedy, similar to the way they whinge about Lukaku now. Used to get right on my nerves. They'd have had Tom Cleverley in the team instead.

I thank God that I was working in England between 1984 and 1987. Travelled everywhere to watch our team...and what a team!!!
My children are Everton supporters... but only mildly. Starved of success and 12,000 miles from L4, I can cut them some slack toward their 'meh'
I hope one day they can experience the triumphant joy Everton provided me.

My favourite three Sheedy moments -

• The Ipswich free kicks
• Flicking the V's at the Kop after scoring in the derby
• The third goal v Rapid Vienna after they had got it back to 2-1, straight down the other end and Sheedy makes it 3-1.
