The funny thing is, the wages awe've been putting new players on since last summer are a big reduction on what we were paying before that apparently
I do hope so as we need it. What we really need is to get our commercial income up though, we should be sponsoring everything we can from the shirts to the stadium to the toilets, anything to boost the coffers.

I can't believe Thelwell gets such a free ride. He has been an appalling, almost invisible DOF with no ability in the transfer market and no influence whatsoever on the overall strategy for getting teams together that actually win a game now and then.
We've seen protests to eject Moshiri, Kenwright, DBB, Graeme Sharp, Frank Lampard, the stewards, the toffee lady and the guy who paints white lines on the pitch - but this joker gets off scot-free.
Thelwell out.
I think he’s pretty blameless to the majority of this mess. It’s clear he has made so many changes in the developmental/ back room side of things.

With transfers. He obviously has the multiple issues of previous tenures to try and rectify. It’s clear we are in a massive financial mess and it’s not his fault. Who the hell would even want the job of sorting that out whilst the team is also terrible and needs better players asap.

. How does he get rid of multiple high earners? (Keane/doucoure etc)
. How does he buy any real quality with no money available. Proof is we are being trumped by forest, Bournemouth, Villa.
. I mean one of the main reasons we bought maupay, McNeil in as attacking options were likely due to the very low down payments on both. I imagine they were well down the list of who he or the manager wanted.
. Targets like kudus and mudryk who we were heavily linked with as well as Onana are a good indication of what we w should be doing.

The esk has been banging on about our terrible finances for years and it’s been well published. If we go down we are screwed, and if we stay up I imagine we will have to sell another one of our ‘assets’ - Pickford I imagine.

Whilst I agree that he’s relatively blameless for most problems at the club, signing Maupay and McNeil was unforgivable.

They are literally dozens and dozens of players out there priced the same or less than those two utter bozos. As DOF, it’s on him to identify them and bring them to the club.

Genuinely two of the worst players to have worn the shirt in the last 20 years.

Yep

Yep. I guess that’s the big black mark on him.

At the time though - several people thought maupay was a decent backup to have.
McNeill however…agree he is dire and nowhere near the level needed.

Agree, you don't clear up 5 to 8 years of bad recruitment in two or three transfer windows.
