Everton youngster John Paul Kissock has joined Gretna on loan.
The attacking midfielder will link up with the struggling Scottish Premier League side for the rest of the season.
Academy product Kissock, 18, has been a reserve team regular for the last two seasons.
He signed professional terms with the club in December 2006.
His progress was underlined when he was included by David Moyes in the travelling party for the Uefa Cup game against AZ Alkmaar - though he didn't make the matchday squad.
Gretna capped a meteoric rise through the Scottish leagues with promotion to the SPL at the start of this season, but have found life tough in the top tier.
They are well adrift at the bottom of the league, seemingly destined to return to Scottish Division One.

Interesting move. I always assume that loan deals to lower league sides (ie below the Championship) are often a precursor to a move away from the club. Gretna being a SPL side however, hopefully this will be simply to give him some experience.

Great move for the lad. Will be getting top end first team action.

I am sure this is a sign that he will be a starter next season. This will be a long awaited occasion and great if it works as well as the ones in the know think.

It will be interesting to see how he does. Many on here that have seen him in the reserves havn't been glowing in their praise for him but I suspect motivation at reserve level may be lacking a bit. If he does well in a reasonable level competition then that would be a much better indication of his talent (or lack of). The rough and tumble of Scotland will also show whether he's physically strong enough for top flight football.

Yup mate. In Reserve team games these lads can never show what they are capable of as their competition is not inspiring. It is what these lads do in training(as they now train with the seniors) that is ruffling a few feathers. This is why Moyes is buying so much youth. They train at a higher level than they regularly play. This brings them constantly in the Gaffers eye line. They train harder also as they desire the step up. Only Arsenal do this on a regular basis. And we all know what they produce. Moyes is not afraid to borrow other peoples techniques. And I respect him for that. He is the Eternal sponge for knowledge and he is ours.

He should fit in north of the border too.

Highland cow.

I cant see how he will improve playing in a poor side in a poor league I would have preferred him going to a championship side or Liverpool one of those teams heavily in debt and in need of decent players:lol:
