When I arrived at work this Monday morning I was treated to the sight of my Kopite workmate racing around the workplace in glassy-eyed euphoria - shouting, laughing and just generally being an A-typical gob*hite.
For a few moments I feared I had been teleported into the future like on some episode of the series lost - as it was clear something wonderful had happened to the shi*e, maybe they had won the European cup on penalties (again
) or maybe stevie-g had been given a Knighthood for his services to the community......
But no after a short while I remembered they 'beat Man u':huh:
Then my mind went back to the mid-to-late ninety's when our beloved team had a strange sort of strangle-hold on Merseyside derbys, and I remembered that after several satisfying victories over the Shi*e I was always shot down with taunts of - playing / beating us is your cup final - the highlight of your season etc ...etc .....
So with this opportunity for revenge I put it to the cnut - " beating utd you're cup final now is it?"
Knowing full well I'd got the better of him the froth started to form round his kopite trap - and the usual tirade of how many european trophies have you won...etc etc...followed, but I could see it in his eyes I had the pr*ck banged to rights!! - what satisfaction
I have to admit I'm very objective about my team and win, lose or draw I always pick over the bones of a game on Monday morning , but why do the majority of kopites never ever mention football when they lose - no debate on boro the other week, not a squeak after draws with wigan or stoke - But win their Cup Final against Utd - and I'm reaching for my ear-defenders!!!!!
So its official! - for my workmate at least the Shi*es target for a successful campaign has now been curtailed to winning a league game against man u - Wow what ambition
